"Excellent job! Good Guy Plumbing fixed my leaking water heater quickly and thoroughly for a fair price. Spoke with Robert over the phone and David came out to do the repair. Both were professional, knowledgeable and kind. I recently bought a new townhome and will be doing business with them for any future plumbing needs. Many thanks to David, Robert and Good Guy Plumbing. It’s such a relief knowing there are good, honest plumbers I can count on."

"Power Pro Plumbing is definitely my new plumber. Their technician arrived on time, was friendly, respectful and knowledgeable, quickly diagnosed, clearly explained and resolved, my problem. I was grateful that he didnâ t try to suggest that it was a bigger problem than it was. The follow-up technician was also very knowledgeable and kind. He even told me what to expect in the future."

"Mike was timely, accurate in his assessment and responded to calls quickly. They are awesome! I would highly recommend Titan Plumbing to everyone. We had a really big plumbing issue during the Thanksgiving holiday, including our main sewer line, and they were great. We were so glad that we called them!!"

"I was extremely pleased to meet Tony today to install a new water heater in my condominium in Rancho Palos Verdes. Immediately when Tony came to the door, he introduced himself, shook my hand and was just an absolute pleasure to deal with. I think he is a straight shooter and I immediately since this was a fair dude. Tony is the owner of the company so it was fantastic to deal directly with the boss who could give me straightforward answers. I had received several quotes for this job ranging from $2700, $2900 and the best one was $6800 all for the same product. Tony quoted me $1795 and that is what I paid. I have struggled to find a local plumber who I connected with and now I think I finally found my man. His crew was polite and they were very efficient. I highly recommend this plumbing company."

Plumbing FAQs, answered by experts

Redondo Beach has moderately hard water, which accelerates scale buildup in pipes and water heaters. The marine climate also creates elevated salt air exposure, rapidly corroding exterior metal components. Because California is seismically active, you must install flexible connectors and seismic strapping on water heaters. Furthermore, local soil conditions near the coastal bluffs feature sandy earth that shifts over time, placing heavy stress on underground plumbing systems.

Helpful?

Homes built before 1975 in Redondo Beach feature galvanized steel and cast iron pipes that require full replacement due to internal corrosion. Slab-on-grade foundations make accessing drain lines highly complex, requiring extensive saw-cutting. Properties built on hillsides or coastal bluffs feature steep slopes that demand non-standard drain grades. Tight lot setbacks also restrict equipment access, making sewer lateral replacement and exterior plumbing work logistically difficult on smaller urban properties.

Helpful?

Start by securing required city permits for work like water heater replacements, re-pipes, or sewer line upgrades. Confirm your water and sewer service connections with local utility providers before beginning any work that affects the main lines. All plumbing must comply with the strict CA code, which requires earthquake-resistant water heater strapping and water-efficient fixtures. Check if your home falls within the coastal zone, as this requires additional review.

Helpful?

Schedule a final city inspection to close out your permits after finishing plumbing work to avoid complications during future home sales. You must hire a certified tester to check any newly installed backflow prevention devices. Keep documentation proving your new water heater meets state efficiency standards and has proper seismic strapping. For homes near the ocean in Redondo Beach, inspect exposed exterior pipes regularly for accelerated corrosion caused by salt air.

Helpful?

Hire licensed contractors who have extensive experience navigating the specific permit and inspection processes in Redondo Beach. Your chosen professionals must carry workers' compensation and liability insurance to protect you from on-site injuries. Ensure they are familiar with coordinating shutoffs with local utility providers. Given the older housing stock, select experts who understand how to handle corroded materials and properly update aging plumbing in local coastal homes.
