"Joe cleared the sink drain and turned the water off because I needed a new faucet. The old one was leaking and it was an expensive faucet so the repair would be expensive. I needed a new faucet because that one was corroded. He also checked the toilet to see if the water flow was o.k. and it was. Next I went out to Home Depot and purchased another wide spread faucet. Called Joe and he came out to install it. He is very courteous and efficient. He answered all of my questions. I would definitely hire Phill's Plumbing again."

"Excellent job! Good Guy Plumbing fixed my leaking water heater quickly and thoroughly for a fair price. Spoke with Robert over the phone and David came out to do the repair. Both were professional, knowledgeable and kind. I recently bought a new townhome and will be doing business with them for any future plumbing needs. Many thanks to David, Robert and Good Guy Plumbing. It’s such a relief knowing there are good, honest plumbers I can count on."

"This was a difficult project, owing to the no-cripple-wall construction of my house and the ridiculously tight crawl space - less than a foot in critical spots - plus the maze of beams and ducts. I called six or seven plumbers to come out and bid the work and two of them ran screaming (well, not really, they just told me they needed to work up an estimate 'back at the office' and never called back). One guy swore I'd have to rip out a wall AND the floor to get to the pipe. Mr. Rooter didn't propose anything so dramatic. They just said they'd excavate as needed to make room to move around. So that's what they did. They billed it as a two-day job. They showed up on time, and the work was wrapped up by the third hour of the second day. Because that, I was concerned this job had been overbilled. Their bid had been astronomical, but it was still lower than everyone's except the guy with the lapsed bond. Mr. Rooter had been willing to negotiate and I knocked about $650 off their initial bid. They took another $200 off at the back end because of my concern with overbilling. They didn't have to do that since they had a signed contract in hand, but they were willing to take care of a customer. Thumbs up for that. The work looks solid, as far as this layman can tell. Everything drains as it should and none of the joints leak."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Long Beach should consider salt air’s impact on pipe corrosion, sandy soils that affect trench stability, and earthquake risks for gas and water lines. Some neighborhoods face shared sewer laterals or fluctuating water pressure. Look for available rebates on water-saving fixtures, and be mindful of tree root intrusion or special guidelines in historic or flood-prone areas.

Helpful?

Before starting plumbing projects in Long Beach, review local permit requirements for major work like water heater installations or sewer line replacements. Coordinate with utility companies before any digging, especially near water or gas lines. Consider seasonal weather patterns, and if you live in a historic district or HOA, confirm any extra approvals needed. Planning these steps together helps prevent unexpected project delays.

Helpful?

Plumbing upgrades in Long Beach provide immediate benefits like preventing leaks, improving water pressure, and reducing emergency repairs. Over time, you’ll enjoy increased property value, better energy efficiency, and fewer plumbing issues. Environmentally, water-efficient upgrades help conserve resources and support the city’s sustainability goals, while also making your home more attractive to future buyers.

Helpful?

In Long Beach, be wary of quotes that are much lower or higher than others, vague timelines, or requests for full payment upfront. Watch for contractors who avoid written contracts or lack local references. Reliable professionals should be familiar with Long Beach’s common pipe materials, sandy soil excavation challenges, and should clearly outline permit and inspection processes in their quotes.

Helpful?

Upgrading plumbing in Long Beach often increases home value and attracts buyers, especially in older neighborhoods. Projects like trenchless sewer repairs, installing water-efficient fixtures, or adding tankless water heaters are highly desirable. Keeping records of recent plumbing improvements is important for disclosure and can reassure buyers concerned about local infrastructure or water quality issues.
