"I had a roof leak during a storm today and contacted Joe for assistance. He understood the urgency and immediately sent a team out to fix my roof. The team was fast and was able to repair the roof. Joe personally showed up to inspect the work and performed a detail roof and ceiling inspection. I would highly recommend Joe and his team for all your roofing needs. Thanks Joe."

Small jobs welcome

"Had CAJ Roofing repair my 25+ yaer old tile roof. They pulled up all tiles, replaced water damaged areas, replaced all underlayment and damage wood trim, all pipe vents, added new drip edges reinstated tiles (replacing damaged tiles), painted all trim they replaced, and when they were done, roof looked as good as new. Team was fast and cleaned everything up at the end of the day all for a great price. I highly recommend CAJ Roofing"

"My roof was particularly challenging having solar hot water panels and solar photovoltaic panels managed by a 3rd party. To further complicate things, the existing decking was delaminating, and in places the fascia was rotting. And those were just the issues I was aware of. I sought quotes from multiple vendors, but only SDC Roofing made me aware of additional issues affecting my roof, and worked with me to find a solution that met my budget. Their staff was respectful, did an excellent job keeping the site clean and nail free, easy to work around (we had to live here too!). Iâ m really pleased with the final result, and have already recommend SDC Roofing to my coworkers and neighbors."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Architectural shingles typically last between 20 and 30 years. While some manufacturers provide warranties for 30 to 50 years, particularly for extreme weather, achieving such a long lifespan is uncommon. The actual life of your shingles can be shorter if you live in an area prone to strong winds, hailstorms, or other severe weather. To avoid the risk of roof failure and costly water damage from leaks, it is recommended to replace your roof before it reaches the end of its expected life. Scheduling regular roof inspections every few years is a good way to assess your roof's condition and determine the best timeline for replacement.

Just like when you’re shingling a roof, you can install felt underlayment under a metal roof, but a synthetic underlayment like adhered ice and water shield is the best option. These use adhesives rather than mechanical fasteners, so you have fewer penetrations going through your roof deck and a lower risk of leaks. Ice and water shield is also easier to install because you don’t need additional tools or fasteners to attach it to the roof deck.

Most traditional lenders will not loan against a house with a leaking roof, and some lenders won’t lend against a home with a roof near the end of its lifespan. If the roof on your new home is in poor condition, you may need to have the seller offer a credit for a roof replacement after closing, or you can opt for a renovation loan—also called a 203k loan—to bundle the house and the roof replacement into one loan.

Yes, hail damage to your roof can definitely cause water leaks in your roof. This is because hailstones can break, chip, crack, or split shingles of all types, exposing underlayment. This underlayment doesn’t offer as much protection against water, so when it becomes compromised, water can penetrate and leak deeper into your home.

Good news—asphalt shingles, including architectural shingles, are easily recycled. Talk to your roofing contractor to find out if recycling options are available in your area.

If recycling isn't available, your roofing contractor may recommend renting a dumpster, if your project is on the large side, or collecting the shingles in contractor bags to throw them away. Another option may be to donate new or gently used shingles to a local nonprofit.
