"I purchased the "$1,699 Exterior House Painting Package". I was expecting to pay extra since I have a large 2-story house. "Walter" came out for the estimate. He was very friendly and professional. He used the square footage of my house reported on Zillow for the initial estimate, which was above the 2,000 sq ft that the deal covered. From there we added on some more to paint the wall around my yard (which also required painting both sides of one section as I have a corner house and that wall faces the street).
We talked about all the prep work to be done, including fixing cracks in the block wall, fixing any loose stucco, patching some stucco areas on the walls, etc.  I had very recently had some exterior flood lights installed, which the electrician had cut 2 squares out of the drywall ceiling on my back porch. I was pleased that Walter said they would patch those holes for me before they painted .
I then asked if they do interior work as well, and he said that did, I was in luck, because my house has 2 rooms that have very high ceilings, the dining room has a 15ft ceiling and the foyer and area of the staircase have a 20ft ceiling.  Walter said that for an extra $800 they would paint both of these difficult rooms for me. That price seemed a little high, but there's no way that I could do it myself, so I was happy to have them do it.
The price increased once more midway through the job when Walter pointed out that the rubberized coating on the roof of my rear porch needed updating. I was not expecting this, as the previous owner said that he had it done right before sale, and it's supposed to last for 10 years, but it did indeed look like it needed to be redone. Around this same time I reiterated that the other side of one of the wall sections also needed to be painted. Apparently they were unaware of that, and so I would have to pay extra to have this done. Walter suggested another $900 to include painting the other side of the wall and recoating the patio roof with Elastomeric coating. I agreed, even though I doubted that the paint + coating cost even half that amount, but I figured it would be best to have everything fresh and done at once rather than try to save money and have the roof redone later.
After a ridiculous delay caused by my HOA approving the color choice (even though from their list of approved colors...grrr), the crew showed up the first day (Wed) and power washed everything, moved my patio furniture, raked all the rocks away from the base of the house, and prepping surfaces (caulking cracks, etc), and then covering the windows with plastic, taping off areas, etc.
They took Thursday off (to attend some family function), and came back early Friday and painted all day until 6:30pm. When they were done there was only a few things that needed attention, which I pointed out and Walters dad immediately took care of. They then came in to look at the interior rooms and get the colors from us (90% was one color, with 2 other colors on 3 different accent walls). They taped off and prepped the rooms and started painting the main color.  They came back  They came back at 7:30am Saturday, and did the rest of the interior painting, multiple coats. The painted lines on the corners etc were mostly flawless. There were a couple of spots that I nit-picked, mostly because I knew I would never be able to reach them myself since I don't have a super tall ladder like they do, they fixed them immediately.
They also did a great job of putting everything back the way it was when they were done. All my porch furniture, welcome mats, junk on the side of my house, etc.
Walter made sure that I was completely happy with everything, and that I would be giving a positive review. I was completely happy with everything, except the total price, but it is what it is, I had a lot of square feet to paint, and they did some extras for me like painting a bench and some landscaping blocks.
I would definitely recommend Sunguard Custom Painting for any job, large or small.

"I contacted the company on Friday, and William arrived the same day for a consultation. The company's rates were excellent in comparison to other estimates. Within a week, his team was on-site working on my roof, which was completed in two days. We also opted to have our house painted since we received a substantial discount, and that was finished in just one day. His team was extremely professional and comprised of wonderful individuals! The painting crew ensured that you were pleased with their work. William visited daily to check on his team and to confirm that you were content with the progress of the project."

"Valley Contracting repaired my covered patio. It was 23 years old. Wood facia was rotting and the roll out shingles were deteriorating. After product was a new roof with new facia and a slick foam top vs. shingle. They also painted my 2 story house since it's been 13 years. Came home from vacation to a fresh looking house with a new covered patio. Would definitely hire again (next project is whole roof replacement). Their costs are very reasonable, they kept me informed the whole time and got it done in a quickly manner."

"Eric with Reimagine Roofing was great. He fixed a small leak we developed in our roof. He was able to identify the area of the leak, the cause, and apply a patch that looks great as it matches the previous new roof that was installed. Many thanks to Ericcand Reimagine Roofing for standing behind their warranty."

"Monsoons are knocking at our door and I discover damaged tiles on my 21 year old roof. Angi recommended Apache Home Improvement who I found to be on top of their game start to finish. They did everything they said they would from showing up for estimating the repair and creating a realistic bid to fitting my job in amongst a very demanding schedule and even completing it 45 minutes ahead of projected time. They called for every appropriate reason and emailed and texted arrivals, reminders, it was so smoothly coordinated. Very professional. I would recommend their services in the same way I would recommend fine dining - 5+ stars."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Underlayment is required by building code, so any roof installed without it is technically against code. The underlayment acts as the second layer of defense against water, so installing a roof without underlayment means a much higher risk of roof leaks. You’ll have the best chance of avoiding roof leaks if you install drip edge flashing covered by underlayment, and then install your roofing material over that.

In most cases and locations, roofs with a single layer of asphalt roofing shingles won't require roof removal before installing a metal roof. However, underlayment may be necessary on roofs with moderate shingle damage. Heavily damaged roofs or ones with multiple shingle layers will most likely require removal before a metal roof can go on.

Copper roofing works well in all kinds of climates, but it’s ideal in humid climates because it naturally repels fungus, moss, and algae. This makes it one of the best roofing options for Cape Cod homes in the Northeast, as well as homes in the humid southern states and snowy northern states. That said, copper is vulnerable to thermal expansion. If you live in a climate that has extreme temperature changes, your contractor will need to consider this during the installation process.

Yes, replacing a roof is always a good investment if the current one is in poor condition. Not only will it preserve the structural integrity of the home, but it can also add value at the time of sale. The average return on investment for a new roof is between 48% and 61%. Prospective buyers are also more likely to purchase a home with a recently replaced roof since that means they won’t need to worry about that expense in the near future.

Gaps between tiles are necessary to help with weatherproofing, allow for thermal expansion, and increase wind resistance. In general, a small gap no larger than 3 millimeters wide will encourage proper drainage and limit cracking. Beyond that, tiles should overlap a minimum of 3 inches, except at the eaves where they should extend to the center of the gutter.
