Seider Heating, Plumbing & Electrical is a family owned business serving Greater Milwaukee since 1912. Residential & commercial HVAC, plumbing & duct cleaning. The oldest Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer in WI.
"We enjoyed working with Ben, Mike, and Rebeca. We contracted them for whole house plumbing during our remodel. After getting several estimates, their price was one of the best. They always showed when they said they would, they had good solutions to some issues on our house, they were easy to communicate with, and Mike was flexible to our needs as we worked hard to finish our home before the cold weather and newest baby born any day now. Thanks Seider team for all your hard work!"

"The owner of Guardian Heating and Cooling, LLC (Steve Peterson) and one of his sons (Adam) did an AWESOME job installing a new, high-efficiency, gas-fired Laars combi-boiler at my residence! If the new unit continues to perform as well as it is presently and Guardian’s service continues to be this excellent in the years ahead, I’ll be a happy camper and pat myself on the back for having been smart enough to hire them :-) The unit they replaced was built by a highly-regarded manufacturer that had been installed by a highly regarded (according to Angie's List) contractor by the previous owners of my home. As it turned out, the previous heating unit was a money pit and the previous contractor left much to be desired. Each heating season, the previous boiler experienced one significant failure after another. The previous contractor kept changing parts without digging into "why" the parts were failing. They simply said I should accept this, since the unit was "old". Unhappy with this response, I decided to cut my losses. To the rescue: Guardian Heating and Cooling! While not the least expensive contractor, Steve & Son exceeded my expectations simply by meeting them! They arrived one time and did everything they said they were going to do. With unseasonably cold weather in October, I was initially a bit apprehensive at the prospect of having no heat for a few days while a replacement system was installed. I wondered if they'd be able to complete this project in a timely manner, as they said they would. My worries were for naught. There were no surprises and no surprise expenses ... no nickle-&-diming when Guardian needed an extra part or fitting ... no drama. Guardian simply got the job done. And they did it beautifully. They took care to minimize the time I’d be without water and without heat. After installation, they thoroughly tested the unit. The next day, they checked back to ensure that I was satisfied with its performance. They also cleaned up reasonably when they were done and were carefully not to damage my property, as they moved large, heavy pieces of equipment and tools around. In summary: a big Thumbs Up! Please note that Angie's List has a typo in this contractor's name in their listing. They show, "Guardianing heating and cooling llc"... However, the correct name is "Guardian Heating and Cooling, LLC". I.e., there should be no "-ing" after the word Guardian."

"It's the worst air duct cleaning company. Last week, they came and performed air duct and dryer vents, unfortunately, lot of dust still coming through the system. When j went and checked filter lot of dust piled up on the filter. The person who came up for air duct cleaning told me while leaving, he had cleaned filter, need not replace it for another 2months, but the very next day itself when I went checked lot of dust piled up onto filter."

Knowing how long your existing HVAC units can last is essential to determine if you need a repair or replacement. Typically, most modern air conditioning units can last between 15 to 20 years, and most furnaces can work properly for 15 to 30 years. If your HVAC system is on the older side and you decide to replace one unit, it might make sense to replace both simultaneously to save on costs and future hassle.
While different HVAC contractors might offer higher or lower prices than competitors, the best time to replace your HVAC system is when customer demand is low. The beginning of summer and the beginning of winter bring the most demand for HVAC systems, so if you can, consider replacing your HVAC units in the early spring or fall. Many HVAC companies offer special off-season coupons that help lower the overall cost.
The average cost to hire an HVAC contractor is between $50 and $150 per hour if charging hourly. However, some HVAC contractors will charge a flat fee by the type of service they are performing—for example, an inspection can cost between $150 to $500. Keep in mind that emergency repairs—which are made after business hours or around major holidays—generally cost more than scheduled repairs.
Yes, most states require HVAC technicians to be certified, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed HVAC technician could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
The average cost of HVAC repairs is around $350. However, that price can be as low as $100 or as high as $2,000 or more, depending on the repair. For example, replacing a capacitor is a relatively inexpensive repair, ranging from $100 to $500. However, a compressor repair is a more expensive repair, ranging from $750 to $2,000.
