Considering the age of the unit and the upcoming change in AC coolants we bit the bullet and purchased a new 2.5 ton Lennox unit. We got an appointment for an installation about 10 days away (it couldn't get here soon enough). The crew arrived at 8:30 on the designated. They removed the old unit, strung new hoses to the furnace unit, did a bit of duct fabrication, and were on the way to their next job by noon. They were very efficient, kept us in the loop about what they were going to do, and worked around piles of boxes that hadn't been moved in 20 years. They did a great job and they are now our regular HVAC choice."

He cleaned and sanitized 10+ vents, HVAC system, returns, supply lines, main line, and the dryer vent which was on the roof. A lot of Groupon deals that I looked around for have up-charges for the requirements that I had, particularly since I live in a 3rd floor walk-up in the city.
