TL;DR - Do not use these folks for anything. Ever. They do not train their field or office staff properly, their office and field staff provide bad information as a result, and their management will not return calls. I am out at least $600 because of their incompetence. Their field staff did not perform industry standard steps to diagnose a leak, pumped $900 of coolant into a system with a huge leak in it, then lied about it when confronted - "I was trained to do it this way." I have since spoken with 3 other HVAC industry professionals, and all universally agreed All-Temp staff did not follow standard best practices. Their office staff straight up lied to me about whether or not I could save any remaining coolant. As of mid June, I have called 5 times and left voicemail to a person the field tech told me to call, and have not gotten a call back. AVOID AVOID AVOID. DO NOT EVER GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS. NITTY GRITTY - My HVAC was not cooling and I needed to have it checked. I made the mistake of looking for deals on Angi and found a coupon for an HVAC checkup for $89 with All-Temp. A tech named Greg came out in mid May and checked my HVAC, it was completely out of coolant. He pumped in $900 of coolant and added a dye packet to the line that would leak out green and ID the location of any leak. I was not home at the time, he commented to my wife to "call us back when the unit stops cooling, might be a month, a year. Just give us a call!" I happened to walk by the HVAC unit and noticed a hissing sound. Leaks in HVAC lines are typically pinhole sized, this time, I HEARD MY $900 HISSING OUT. I called them back immediately, it was Friday at 5:30pm, Monday at 8am was the next available time. I asked the person I spoke with on the phone - "What can I do to seal up the unit so I can save any coolant that hasn't leaked out?" The person puts me on hold, comes back, responds "I just spoke with the field tech who came out, there's nothing you can do, it will all leak out." I smelled hogwash, called a hardware store, frantic, and happened to speak with a former HVAC tech. I got exact instructions on how to prevent more coolant from leaking out, and he offered to fix the leak as a side job the next day. He came, saw the crack (shoddy solder job, not All Temp's fault), and asked if All-Temp had pressurized the line to check for leaks. "I have 42 years of experience, that's the first thing you do." The All-Temp tech did not do this. This good samaritan fixed the crack and pumped in $600 of coolant. Ace is truly the helpful place. Over the next two days I spoke with a friend who does commercial HVAC, and a random guy at a coffee shop who was wearing a HVAC company jumpsuit. Three different people, all whom I know different ways, none of whom have any incentive to color the truth. All of them said what happened was horribly wrong in terms of how to diagnose HVAC leaks. I kept my appointment with All-Temp, Greg came back on Monday. I called him out on what happened and asked him why he did not pressurize the line - "THIS IS WHAT WE ARE TRAINED TO DO." Read that as many times as necessary - they are trained to improperly diagnose leaks. But, this guy isn't management, so he told me to contact Mr. Dale Roberts, who would "definitely work with you." FIVE MESSAGES LATER, CRICKETS. Captain Make Things Right can't be bothered to call me back. I asked about the "there's nothing you can do to save coolant." Greg's response "I was already done by then on Friday, you were told that because people try to fix it themselves, get it wrong, then blame us." I admit I see the point, but a lie is a lie. I was told I could do nothing, I did something, and I saved about $200 worth of coolant. I did not tell Greg that I was put on hold SO THEY COULD CONTACT THE FIELD TECH, WHO CONFIRMED THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO. Bad training, outright wrong information, and zero communication. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.
