"Mark at NW Arbor Care followed up promptly and came out to see my project which involved trimming several very large branches from 80 feet maples. He gave me a bid on the spot which seemed very reasonable. He clearly trusted his team to work with me, and was he ever right! They were great! Four people who knew what they were doing and worked together like clockwork. They were pleasant, good communicators, knowledgable, and really good at what they did. I'm so happy with the work which exceeded my expectations. They were flexible and thorough. They cleaned up so it looked better than when they came. I will hire them for any tree trimming needs in the future."

"These guys are fantastic. We met with several arborists, and Brenda & Jose impressed us from the moment we met them. One tree was a problematic situation because it was our neighbor's tree that we needed to have the branches removed from our property, and our neighbor was not cooperating. Originally we planned to have the tree cut with a hedge trimer right up the property line. Jose cared enough and hand-cut each branch individually. This tree is at least 75' tall. The other two trees we in our back yard and again, the team at Altaview performed to perfection."

"These guys are truly professional tree removers. They removed a 100 foot tall double trunk birch tree from my front yard, and ground the stump. This was a big tree. This tree was in a very difficult spot to remove. It was right next to my house, and just a few feet from my main electrical line coming from the power pole. Oh, it was just a few feet from the power lines out on the street. I can't tell you how carefull they had to be to do this job without damaging my house, taking out my main line, or taking out the power to the rest of the neighborhood. They placed every limb exactly where they wanted them to fall. I highly recommend these guys for any tree service. I will use them again in the future for all my tree removal needs. They cleaned up the job site too. They blow off my roof, bushes, walkway, and driveway. They started at 8am and were done by 3pm. If you have a dangerous or difficult tree to remove, these guys can do it, and do it right.

"Dan came out to give us an assessment about the health of an old cedar we have next to our home. I was concerned that he wouldn't be "straight" and would try to upsell services. However, I really wanted an experienced arborist to let me know why parts of my tree appear to be dying. Dan checked our tree out thoroughly and gave us his opinion that the tree is stressed but will most likely bounce back over the next several months. He then went on to look at a number of other trees on our property -- ALL AT NO CHARGE TO US -- and without trying to sell us any services. I have complete confidence in Dan and Eastside Tree Works. They came to take care of our landscape needs and didn't attempt to profit off of our ignorance. I will not hesitate to use them in the future!"

"Blake and the Arbor Barber team were fantastic! I had originally contacted four companies to provide me with estimates for cutting down two overgrown cherry trees. One company didn't show to provide an estimate and the remaining three were all within $50-$100 of each other. While Arbor Barber were the highest estimate, they were the company that I felt the most comfortable with. From the phone call with their office to schedule the appointment, to owner (Blake) that came to provide the estimate, to the crew that arrived to do the work, they were the most professional and friendly, and provided the most honest and pressure free estimate. The quality of the work was amazing, and I would recommend Arbor Barber to anyone that is looking for a fair and honest company to assist them with tree service."

"We have had Chris and his guys out to do tree work in our yard 3 times in the last 5 years, each time they come, they have done excellent work. They are always courteous and are very hard workers. Chris does a good job of keeping us informed regarding their schedule in regards to "our job". I would highly recommend them."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Ideally, you should wait to prune until trees have gone dormant in late fall to early winter. The worst times to prune trees are early fall and late summer, as pruning them so close to dormancy makes it difficult for the tree recover before it goes dormant for the season.

If you’re looking to rot a tree stump fast, potassium nitrate will work far quicker than copper nails. First, drill several holes into the stump using a power drill, then pour potassium nitrate pellets into the holes. Next, add water to help the chemical absorb into the wood, thoroughly soaking the stump to ensure the pellets dissolve and spread evenly. Afterward, cover the stump with a tarp to retain moisture and block sunlight, then place mulch on top to secure it in place.

Early signs that a tree is struggling include premature leaf shedding and lesions or other strange markings. Peeling bark, dead or rotten branches on the ground, and a conspicuous lack of leaves can all be signs that a tree has started to die. By the time a tree starts leaning, it’s usually too far gone to save.

It’s possible, although a lot depends on the cause of damage and what steps you take. If the remaining parts of the maple tree are alive and not under attack by disease or pests, they can often be saved even if large portions of the maple tree have died. Frequent watering, careful pruning, mulch, and any recommended fungicides or insecticides can all help with survival.

Cutting down a dead tree is always strongly advisable. Aside from being an eyesore, a dead tree can be extremely hazardous, especially when it’s near people or structures. Even if the tree isn’t near your home, it can still harbor pests and diseases that can potentially spread to nearby plants and homes.
