In addition they curved the sides giving the patio a flow instead of a blunt shape. They even ran our downspout under the patio to a drain hole, making the corner much nicer. They ran the border around the crawl space access and vent openings. The two steps they built add to the beauty of their effort.. The crew was very responsive, plus they gave us ideas (all were accepted) based on their experience. They also cleaned up every night so that we could use our driveway. Once started, the project moved along - he was an excellent project manager. I would check progress and he was very responsive to any of my questions or concerns.
