"Of the companies I spoke with and gave me a quote I felt Lambert Treescapes was the most likely to give me what I was looking for. The result was like the perfect haircut. All the goals had been achieved and It looked great but a fresh cut wasn’t obvious. There were a few larger and longer branches that needed to be removed but I do not miss them."

"I got quotes from three different arborists, and I felt the most confident with Mark's quote. His team showed up a little early (which is totally ok), and they were FAST. Courteous crew, and did a super job with cleanup. The results met (and perhaps even exceeded) our expectations. Because of their great work, we won't need any tree work for several years, but I know I will call them again when we are ready."

"The Altaview Tree Service team was so great to work with! Brenda stayed on top of everything and kept in contact with me through the permit process, which isn't always the easiest. Once the team was here, they were timely, super efficient, and extremely careful and respectful of the surroundings (including my neighbors yard!). I relied on their expertise regarding the trimming and my maple tree looks so healthy and well taken care of. I'm so happy with this service and can't wait to hire them again for other projects. I will certainly be referring them to friends and neighbors!"

"Miller Tree Service removed several trees from my property. One very bushy 40 ft Leland Cyprus which required a crane to safely remove. Great job protecting other plants and property and removing all the debris."

Small jobs welcome

"Neil was fantastic. He worked around our established plants to not disturb them. We had cherry Laurel tree stumps in, up on a hill. He swiftly removed them and cleaned up after. We would definitely hire him again!"

"4th time hiring American Tree Care and once again they showed up on-time, did all of the promised work - plus some - matched the estimate and was polite, courteous and very efficient. Removed a died-all-of-a-sudden tree plus another heavy-leaning tree near the telephone and power lines and then trimmed huge cedar limbs that were rubbing on the roof. In the end, there is a nice pile of shavings for the walkway, a neat stack of logs for my neighbor to have - and that's it... nothing more to clean up, nothing damaged and no surprises. Don't hire another tree service without talking to American Tree Care first - it's not too good to be true."

"Very well. Worked quickly. Cleaned up when finished. Joe even pruned another smaller tree near the bigger one as an extra bonus. Very happy with the look of the trees and the quick and thorough manner in which the work was completed and cleaned up!"

"Mark was very professional and they did a great job of cleaning up the site afterward. Only concern was the cost $675 seemed quite high for tree trimming and taking out old branches. But got bids, and Bushman was the most competitive. So tree trimming appears to be one of those more expensive services for some reason."

"I highly recommend Suave and Sons Tree Work for anyone in need of tree services. They did an excellent job removing a large, difficult tree that was located VERY close to our house. The process was smooth and efficient, and the crew was clean and professional. The owner, Joel, was a pleasure to work with. He was easy to contact and was onsite working along the guys during the job. All of the guys were also very friendly and respectful. Overall, we had a great experience with this company and would not hesitate to use them again in the future."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

There are a few differences between tree guying and tree staking. Tree guying requires anchor stakes that are shorter and stronger than regular stakes and are driven deeper into the ground at an angle away from the tree. Tree staking uses longer stakes that are set parallel to the tree and are used for smaller trees. Consult a local tree professional to determine which method is best for your tree.

Large, established tree branches won’t grow roots, but if you find a young tree branch that’s less than about a year old, you’ve got a shot. Put it in water or soil as soon as possible for best results. You’ll know the branch is viable if it’s about the thickness of a pencil and has some leaves or needles.

There are several methods to hollow out a tree stump, and the best one depends on your tools, experience, and priorities. Common methods include using a chisel and hammer, a chainsaw, or burning.

  • Chisel and Hammer: This is often considered the easiest approach for those with limited tools or experience, though it is the most time-consuming.

  • Chainsaw: Using a chainsaw is the fastest method, but it comes with significant safety risks, especially for inexperienced users.

  • Burning: This can be an effective method, but it is not recommended unless you can first drill holes into the stump. Without holes, the stump will be difficult to light and may not burn completely through.

A power drill with at least a ⅜-inch diameter bit can make the job quicker and easier, regardless of the primary method. While you can use a chisel or chainsaw without a drill, it will require more time and effort. Always wear protective goggles and thick gloves, as splinters are an inevitable risk.

No, homeowners insurance typically does not cover the cost of removing a dead, sick, or rotting tree that is still standing. Insurance is designed to protect against sudden and unexpected accidents, whereas a tree dying or rotting over time is considered a maintenance issue. Coverage usually only applies after a tree has fallen and caused damage to your property.

If an arborist is certified by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), the highest level of certification available is ISA Board Certified Master Arborist. According to the ISA, this credential is reserved for arborists “who have reached the pinnacle of their profession.” Check your arborist’s credentials before hiring to confirm their level of training and expertise.
