"I had to have vinyl plank flooring relaid and some of the surfaces evened out due to water leaks in my dining room and remodeling in my kitchen. Some contractors refused to reuse any of my old flooring (most of it had not been touched at all by water). Others gave me inflated prices. And yet others took weeks to get back to me. So, dealing with Alfred was a breath of fresh air. He gave me a fair quote (though not the cheapest), but the best part was that he was able to fit me in the very same day. After 6 weeks of torn up floors, it was so great to have them put back so quickly and so professionally. I would definitely hire again."

"These folks are a pleasure to deal with. We had a small job, just vinyl flooring in two small bedrooms. They spent a lot of time with my wife and I to understand what we were after, then did a great job at a fair price."

Small jobs welcome

"Jon was super responsive and accommodating of our tight schedule. He set clear expectations and delivered as planned. We refinished the flooring on an old house, anticipating some follow up repairs after completion. Throughout this project, Jon has kept in contact and worked with us to set a plan to have a breathe life back into our original 1930s wood floor."

"My house flooded causing us to need a new floor. Manor installed a laminate floor for us twenty years ago. He did such an excellent job that I have always remembered him, so was delighted when I found out he and his wife had their own floor store. There are so many flooring stores to choose from in Austin but I wanted to use one that I knew would still be in business for a long time and would give good service. They have a fantastic selection (too much in fact making choices hard). Miranda was so helpful. When I explained how stressful having my house torn up was she said she would do what she could to speed up the installation which I appreciated. Within a few days she called to say they could get right to it. The crew they sent was professional, polite, and oh so nice. They worked so hard and fast and did an excellent job with everything. They left my house clean at the end of the day. They were prompt and thorough. I am sooooo happy with the floor, the workers, Miranda and Manor. If you need a new floor I highly recommend MG Floors."

"Don worked very hard to find new flooring for the second floor that matched the existing laminate on the first floor. The installers were very professional and did a great job. Iâ m very happy with my new floors."

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpet stretching can be a worthwhile investment to increase the lifespan of your carpet and eliminate unsightly wrinkles, ridges, and ripples. For an older carpet that is in relatively good condition aside from some wrinkling or bubbling, restretching can make it look like new and extend its life by at least a couple of years. You should consider restretching when you notice looseness or other related issues.

However, it's important to note that stretching will not fix issues like stains, wear in the pile, or discoloration. Consider replacing the carpet instead if the repair cost is more than 50% of the price of a new one. Additionally, if your carpet is past its expected lifespan of five to 15 years, or if it has been stretched multiple times already, replacement is likely a better option.

Door transitions can work with virtually any flooring type; however, different transition strips lend themselves better to specific flooring types. For instance, if you are bridging the gap between a taller floor, like carpet, to a shorter floor, like hardwood, then you will want a transition strip with a slight slope to bridge the height difference. These transition strips are called reducer molding. On the other hand, if you are bridging two floors of the same height, you can use flat transition strips, such as T-strips and seam binders.

Installing carpet over carpet may affect the warranty of the new carpet. Check with the manufacturer or retailer regarding their warranty policies. Many warranties stipulate specific installation guidelines, and installing carpet over carpet may not comply with these requirements. Voiding the warranty due to improper installation methods can leave you without help in case of issues or defects with the new carpet.

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet

If you hire a professional to install a new floor, you can expect to pay between $50 and $75 per hour for labor. It takes two days on average to install a new floor as part of a bathroom remodeling project, but your timeline depends on your bathroom’s size and layout.
