"Louis Higgins is a master craftsmen in refinishing ceiling and drywall damaged by water. Also installed a new ceiling fan. I couldn’t be more pleased. He also repaired an out-of-line fence gate. This the second time I hired Louis to do several small projects and I would do it again."

Small jobs welcome

"The handyman didnt get to finish all I wanted and didn't have more time. He said he didn't expect to give any more time because I had a Groupon and he said folks with groupons never want more than what they purchased. I didn't care for his attitude. He installed the fan but didn't have time to touch up the paint so I was left with two color of paint (from the previous light fixture) showing."

"The team was punctual, did the entire project in the budget range stated, and left a clean install. Not only am I happy with the price, I feel the fit and finish made it look less like a workshop and more like a finished living space!"

Customers say: Quick response

"Gary does awesome work! He completed the following tasks for me: installed a ceiling fan, repaired a light switch wiring connection, painted some exterior areas on my home that needed touch up painting, repaired a weather stripping over my garage door and installed two new shower sprayers. Gary is fair and honest. He doesn't tell you about things you don't need. I knew upfront what the costs would be. His work is quality and he does it in record time. All tasks were completed with my satisfaction. He is prompt and finishes when he says he will finish. I would definitely call Gary again for future projects."

"Jason changed a kitchen faucet and shower head, installed a doorbell, removed a swallow’s nest from my patio ceiling and cleaned up the area beautifully. He was thorough and neat. I recommend him and would hire him again."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

You should schedule a fireplace inspection at least once a year, per the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). However, this is the minimum requirement even if you’re diligent with fireplace maintenance between uses. If you suspect your fireplace is malfunctioning, schedule one sooner to avoid fire hazards or the release of harmful emissions like carbon monoxide in your home.

Regular and professional chimney cleaning offers several key benefits. It prevents dangerous fire hazards by removing flammable creosote buildup, improves airflow and heating efficiency, ensures the safe venting of smoke and harmful gases, and can help you stay in compliance with local safety codes.

Ensure proper ventilation, fix leaks, and schedule regular pest inspections to protect your property.

In some cases, you can use a fireplace once the insert has been removed. However, before burning a fire, you must have a professional inspect it and the chimney to make sure they're functioning properly and no damage has occurred from removing the insert. That’s because using a fireplace without an insert could create fire hazards due to issues with airflow and heat dispersion, depending on the fireplace design and material. A professional can advise on whether you should make certain repairs or modifications before using your fireplace as an open hearth.

It’s technically possible in some areas to install your own fire suppression system, but it’s usually not a good idea. Your system must conform to the fire code in your area and will need to pass a rigorous inspection before being activated and deemed safe. Installing a fire suppression system is a complicated job, and making mistakes as a DIYer is likely. Those mistakes can cause you to fail your inspection, which means you’ll have to spend more time fixing the issues or money to have a certified plumber do the work for you. It’s best to hire a professional.
