"In Aug./Sep. 2019, Rogers Masonry did a tear-down of our decrepit stuccoed chimney, followed by a beautiful brick re-build. The project posed some every unique challenges that Roger handled with a high level of professionalism and diligence. He is exceptionally knowledgeable in all chimney-related matters and provided almost-daily progress reports to document the work his crew was performing. His communication was exemplary, and he was responsive to our questions/concerns, all of which he promptly addressed. We were especially appreciative of the many pictures of the ongoing work that Roger provided throughout the project. We have already had the opportunity to make a referral for Roger and hope to work with him on another chimney project in 2020."

"They tuck pointed and repaired brick steps. The price they charged was less than half of the other estimate we received. ( That is not an exaggeration.) The work was excellent and performed on a timely and efficient basis. They promptly returned calls and otherwise communicated with us on a timely basis. We plan on using them for all brick and masonry projects."

Customers say: True professional

"From receiving the Quote to completion of this project, Absolute Masonry was exceptionally professional, on time, and met our expectations. This family-owned business was so friendly and easy to communicate scheduling the lead time to complete the project. They made us feel our small project was a priority to complete on time. I would definitely recommend their services to anyone needing masonry work large or small. We were very satisfied reviewing the before & after pictures taken by the construction team."

"We had an issue of a hill being washed out by rain. We didn't have proper drainage and the huge silver maple was being affected. Chris came out and gave us an estimate of what it would take to fix the issue. We didn't want to spend a huge amount of money as we were going to leave the house, but didn't want the problem to persist for next residents.
We were concerned about digging around the tree so we worked with an arborist to see what could be done. Chris was patient while we met with the arborist and tried to figure out the best approach.
Once we were done, Chris implemented the solution and we are very happy with it.

"I have used Forsberg Concrete and Masonry for two separate projects. First project was to install a couple sidewalks around my home. Erik and team were informative, professional and delivered great customer service with fabulous results. After completing that job, I did not hesitate on going with Forsberg Concrete again for my second project of pouring the floor in my pole shed. Again, the same top-notch installation from Erik and team. I will use them again for all my concrete/masonry needs."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

No, using a power sander on brick is not recommended because the force of the sander can destroy brick's fragile outer layer. Even using sandpaper on brick is discouraged because of the damage its abrasiveness can cause.

Yes, you can enlarge windows in a brick house. Your masonry contractor will need to cut away exterior brick to make space for the larger window, and you may also need to consult a structural engineer to make sure the window is properly supported inside the frame of the house.

Stone houses used to be much more practical, but with the advent of stronger and cheaper materials like concrete, they aren’t seen as much anymore. There are some parts of the world where it makes sense to build with stone, and they are usually next to a stone quarry. Stone is, however, very weather-resistant, which is why many homes near the sea and on mountains are still built with local stone.

When painting brick, each application method has distinct advantages and disadvantages. Spraying is significantly faster but may not penetrate deeply beyond the surface layer. Rolling is effective for working paint into the brick's texture but can be less effective on mortar joints. If you opt for a roller, choose a thick nap of at least a half-inch to ensure paint gets into all the crevices for even coverage. Using a brush is generally not recommended as it is very time-consuming and provides poor surface penetration. Ultimately, a combination of spraying followed by back-rolling is often the best strategy for a durable and even finish.

Yes, it is usually possible to repair a damaged brick mailbox. A professional brick mason or masonry contractor can perform the repairs. They can assess the damage, provide an estimate, and help you determine if the repair is worthwhile based on the mailbox's value and the extent of the damage. The repair process may involve sourcing replacement bricks and mortar. Damaged bricks can be cut out and replaced, or the mortar joints can be cut out and retucked. It's important to note that the new mortar may differ in color from the original. If the mailbox insert itself is damaged, it can typically be cut out and replaced as well. If your brick mailbox has been completely destroyed, you should check with your local building code enforcement office before rebuilding, as some areas do not allow brick mailboxes due to the potential hazard they pose to drivers.
