Phenomenal business. Jessica and her team from Better Yards and Gardens have completed three major patio and landscaping projects for us over the past two years. Beautiful quality work, superb communication, fair pricing and flexible scheduling. We are very pleased with our new outdoor spaces and highly recommend the company.

Customer service and communication was great. Friendly crew, and quick design and work done efficiently. Only complaint is that I had wanted a couple things transplanted and they transplanted very small portions of them without discussing with me. The rest of the plant was removed from the site without asking if I wanted to keep any of it or if a significant amount was transplanted.

I cannot tell you how frustrated I am with their service and communication . When the service did not work they blamed it on myslf for not watering enough even though I specifically followed the instructions and we had more rain this spring and summer than we had for many years. They discounted my concerns that it was not working and when I requested other options they declined. I contacted at least 6 times over a two month period of time with out any follow up. When I finally spoke to them they would not stand by their service, provide alternatives or any refund. I now need to hire another company to provide a solution.
Response from Better Yards & Gardens
"We did respond to your concerns, when you first contacted us. It was about 3 weeks after we seeded your hill. I stopped by because some areas were not coming in as well as others. At that time we came by free of charge and overseeded the areas that were not coming in as well. which is not part of the estimate. I emailed and let you know I stopped by and did that. When I first was there the seed was coming in about 60-70%. Then you contacted me a about a month later and I said I would stop by when in the area. It took me a few weeks as I was not in the area. When I stopped by there was no seed growing what so ever, it had all died. You said it was because of the hard rains we had. Then when we talked you said it should have done well with all the rain we received. I cannot control mother nature, either. When seeding it is extremely important to keep it watered until it is rooted in well, just like sod. If its not watered, it will not grow or die until its established. I planted seed (clover) that does well in well in shade and hills. I have seeded multiple yards this year and they have all come in great with the proper watering. Just because we get rain (or lots of it during one day but not for a few days or a week again) does not meet to cut back on regular watering until the seed is established and thriving. Seed takes time to establish and fill in. We cannot guarantee things like seeding and sodding because it depends so much on watering until established, which we have no control over. When we spoke you said you wanted a complete refund of the money you spent. I provided the service, installed a product that does well in the area installed and it was coming in nicely after the first 3 weeks. I cannot guarantee against mother nature or homeowners responsibilities with watering until established. There is no such thing as a warranty on seeding and sodding in the industry because it will grow if its watered properly."

Jessica Nosbush Perez and the enter Better Yards & Gardens crew were wonderful. Jessica's design schematics and descriptions were fantastic for planning discussions, and she really heard me when I told her how very much I love PINKS! We have touches and pops of pinks all over our yard. Jessica and crew added trees and boxwoods and hydrangeas and all manner of beautiful growing things to help make our yard more beautiful. We were delighted with their work and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Thank you, Jessica, and thank you Better Yards & Gardens!

Jessica and her team completed our project in 1.5 days which is what she initially said it would be. They worked extremely hard morning until late afternoon. Clean up was terrific! You couldn’t even tell someone had worked on our driveway. We enjoyed the bees and butterflies visiting our new plants/shrubs all summer! Many thanks to Jessica and her team at Better Yards and Gardens!

Jessica and team did a great job on designing and installing landscaping for our entire yard in August 2020. The team was very professional: they were timely, listened to our input and completed the entire project on time and on budget. Would highly recommend this company and wouldn't hesitate to refer them to family, neighbors and friends. Kyle and Pam Rulau

It went very well. They bid the job at a very fair price compared to all the other bids we had. They completed the job timely and kept to their bid. We are happy with the work they did for us.

I had old shrubs and rocks pulled out. I needed a lot of soil as it has eroded around the house. They installed new window wells on the side. We kept the shrubs and plants on the side and in the back and added new plastic and rocks. They provided three yews in the front and I purchased the others at Bachman's. The team came and worked about three hours. They did a great job. I'm really happy. It's been in now almost six weeks. They also needed to add a couple of rows of sod in the front. I've received lots of compliments. Definitely would hire again.

Excellent. Paul and his crew did all of their work in about 2 days - the work was done very quickly and they did a great job. They also installed some sod for me. The project was completed 2 years ago and it still looks great! Overall I highly recommend these guys!

It was great, we love our larger and reconfigured patio, and Jessica and her team were excellent. She is straightforward in her recommendations and we were right to trust her judgement. We had our stone paver-style patio expanded by 4-5 feet and a row of shrubs planted.

Amazing experience. We were in urgent need to get sod down before a graduation party and they delivered. We contacted on Monday and by Wednesday they were putting down sod before the party on Saturday. Great service and quality work. Will definitely call again.

My neighbor and i couldn't believe how fast these guys were working! We knew if we'd tried to tackle this it would take us more than twice as long. We were both impressed. I had to leave while they were still working and when I came back I really looked at what they had done. It was then i saw that the quick work had come with their being careless. The ground was lumpy. While my yard had had lots of weeds in it, it had been very level, but in their process of removing the old grass and weeds, they made it very lumpy. They didn't rototil the ground so much of the yard was very hard, and they didn't level it by raking or any other method. Well, it was so hard i don't think they could have. They didn't smash down the sod after they'd set it on the ground, so when you walked on it some spots went way down and others were higher than the rest of the ground. Some small areas were so high that when the lawn was mowed the first time the grass was cut almost to the ground because it was so much taller. The corners of the sod were not tucked in. They had laid sod on top of concrete pavers, on top of bricks, on the footings for fence posts, on top of other pieces of sod. There was an area up against the garage where i'd had a garden hose running under concrete pavers. I had removed the pavers but of course it was their job not mine to churn up the soil. But the grass there started dying, even with having been watered profusely. When i pulled up the sod to look underneath i could still see where the hose had been, and the sod was cut too big so it was kind of sitting up in the air, touching the garage at that end, but not even on the ground. There were a couple areas that we had specifically discussed, where i wanted to put wood chips or set out some plants. I said i wanted those areas to be rototilled to make sure there would be no weeds. I was told they don't use a rototil; they do it by hand. Whatever. But they didn't. It was dense and of course the weeds all started coming back very soon. They knew that my house was going to be going up for sale We had discussed that this project was to make the lawn look better for "curb appeal" . One area they were supposed to do was the boulevard. Very important, right? But when i got home i saw that they had done part of it and just left the rest . When i pointed this out they said they had used more sod than they'd anticipated in the back yard so didn't have enough. But the back yard isn't as important! This was careless to not do the front (they were going to come back to do more on the back yard a month or so later after my garden was done so it would have made sense to complete the front not the back anyhow). I repeatedly asked to have them come finish the boulevard area. The manager came out several times to take care of where the sod was on top of other sod or on top of bricks or pavers or so lumpy you couldn't walk without twisting your ankle but the workers didn't come back to take care of the sod until they came to finish the back. Another thing was i had several rose plants that i wanted to bring with me when i moved. The roses had been in their locations for about 20 years so of course the roots would go down very deep. I thought since this was their job that they'd do better digging them up than i would. I specified that they were very well established and needed to be dug out very deep. The roses in the front were one kind and in the back were different. I had asked that they put the ones from the front in large plastic bags which i provided, and those from the back in the wheelbarrow. When i got home i saw that they had put them all in the wheelbarrow, so it was difficult to tell them apart, and they had not dug them up deep; they had chopped the large roots right off. Some they had gone down less than a foot and none had they gone much more than a foot. This was last June. I wasn't able to plant the roses at my new house right away but i put them into 5 gallon pots, except for 2 that were awkward shapes and i left those in the wheelbarrow and added soil. They were all kept well watered. After i planted them in the ground they were also kept well watered. They all lost all their leaves. I have never moved roses that had been so well established so perhaps that is to be expected but i know having the roots chopped off gave them a definite disadvantage. Only one of the plants had any life by the end of growing season. They are all still planted but i am not hopeful that they will come back. I called my nursery and got the replacement price for the kinds of roses i had. I deducted that amount when i paid. The photos might be kind of difficult to make sense of. The two sticks are the two worst of the roses they dug up to transplant. You can see that the roots on both were chopped off. How could those grow? And there's a photo of where pieces of sod overlapped so those parts died at the edges. And one of sod on top of a fence footing. And two of the area on the boulevard where they were supposed to improve the look with installing sod. Umm, not so much. I cannot believe they had an A rating. What was wrong with them when they were working at my house?? One thing they did was remove a fairly large tree. They were obligated to contact the city to verify that no utilites or pipres were in the way and they never did which is a major safety concern.
