"Daniel was the first company to contact me about services- this was within 8 hrs after asking 5 other companies for quotes! I only heard back from one other company whose pricing was about 1/3 higher. Daniel was friendly, personable & professional and my job was started the morning we met for consultation and finished as promised in 6 days. I am very happy with the results and I feel the pricing was fair. He and his helper went above & beyond to help me place the large carpet in the house, moving heavy furniture around!!! I will definitely have him back for future work!!!"

"Total flooring is great. I would highly recommend them for any carpet installation. I also had them stretch the wall to wall carpeting upstairs. It looks so much better now. Sebastian was professional, competent, experienced, and easy to work with. His team arrived on time and stretched the carpet upstairs and installed new carpet downstairs. The price was reasonable and I felt that I got great value for my money. J"

"Rich was a true professional from the walk through and estimate to performing the carpet cleaning. He explained the process and is very reasonably priced. He cleaned the carpet of a 3 story townhome. The carpet had not been cleaned for many years. The carpet looks like new after the cleaning. It took approximately 4 hours to complete the job. I would highly recommend Rich for all your carpet needs. He also referred me to a contractor that was able to fix a roll in the carpet prior to cleaning."

"People often say in reviews that the service was great and they would use the company again. Well, I actually did. I was paired with 200 Degrees Hot Steam Cleaning through my home warranty company. Harrison came out and did a great job steam cleaning my carpets. He did such a good job that I asked him to come back a few days later to clean all the tile and wood floors in my place. Harrison returned and did a equally great job. For the second visit, I also got to meet Grace. They are two very nice people who know what they are doing and care about doing a good job. I am lucky I found them, and will definitely use 200 Degrees Hot Steam Cleaning again, for the third time!"

"National Rug Cleaners truly exceeded my expectations when I needed my carpets and area rugs serviced in Cherry Hill,, NJ. In t very first interaction, they offered competitive pricing that stood out among other quotes I received, making it clear they value affordability without compromising on quality. Their team arrived promptly and demonstrated an impressive level of professionalism, working with efficiency and precision throughout the entire cleaning process. What really set them apart, though, was their unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship?every fiber, fringe, and deep-set stain treatment reflected their attention to detail and dedication to excellence. ?I was particularly struck by how attuned they were to my needs as a homeowner. They took the time to explain their cleaning methods, answer my questions about delicate fabrics, and ensure I felt confident in the care being provided. Their focus on customer satisfaction wasn?t just a promise, i was evident"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Installing carpet over carpet may negatively impact the resale value of your home. While it offers a quick fix, potential buyers may view it as a temporary solution rather than a long-term investment in quality flooring. Properly installed and maintained flooring adds value to a home, so removing the existing carpet and installing new flooring may be a better option to attract prospective buyers and maximize resale value.

Yes, there are plenty of ways to lay stair carpet without grippers, such as carpet adhesive, magnetic flooring, or staples. Adhesive may be your best bet if you don’t want grippers, as it will most likely stick the best and cause the least amount of damage. However, if you’re looking for an easy fix, grippers are one of the best solutions you can purchase.

While it is possible to install carpet yourself, it is a challenging DIY project that requires precise measurement, proper cutting skills, and knowledge of correct installation techniques. The process involves multiple steps, including removing old flooring, installing underlayment and tack strips, and stretching the carpet to prevent wrinkles, which can take several days to complete.

Before starting, consider these factors:

  • Warranty: Many manufacturers' warranties are voided if the carpet is not installed by a professional.

  • Tools: You will need to buy or rent specialized equipment like a knee kicker, carpet stretcher, and seam roller.

  • Complexity: DIY installation is most suitable for simple, straightforward rooms. Projects involving stairs or floor vents are significantly more difficult.

  • Cost: While you can save on labor, the cost of tools plus the risk of expensive mistakes—which may require re-installation—can make hiring a professional more cost-effective in the long run.

Given the potential for errors, voided warranties, and the need for special tools, hiring a local carpet installer is often recommended to ensure the job is done correctly and safely.

You can save money on labor costs by removing your old carpet before the professionals come in to install the new carpet. Just make sure to clear it with your contractor ahead of time. You might also be able to cut costs by buying carpet at certain times of year when it’s less expensive. These periods include late December to mid-January and late spring to early summer.

It is not recommended to install or stretch a carpet without a power stretcher. Skipping essential tools like a power stretcher and a knee kicker will likely result in an improper installation, leaving you with wrinkles, creases, and an unappealing final look. While a knee kicker can provide some limited stretching for thinner carpets, it is not a proper substitute. Attempting to stretch a carpet by hand or with homemade tools can also shorten its lifespan. For the best results, you should buy or rent a stretcher. If you do not want to use a stretcher, it is better to hire a professional for the installation.
