For over 40 years Paul Kingston, the owner of Chesapeake Plumbing has made it his mission to offer quality service at a fair price. We are family owned and operated, living and working in Pasadena, treating our customers like family! We offer Emergency Service, after hours, weekends and holidays, for our customer convenience. Certified and licensed master plumbers provide well pump, sewer line, water heater and drain cleaning services. Our installation, repair and inspection services are provided to customers residing in Baltimore, Pasadena, Glen Burnie, Annapolis, Odenton and other surrounding areas in Maryland. Additional phone - (410) 437-4141.

"My fault that I didn't discuss price first. My daughter and I took pipes apart, cleaned them out and determined the clog was in the wall. Two guys were here an hour and a half and finally broke through the clog with a snake and shop vac. My "sticker shock" comes from the fact that my husband, when he was able, did all the maintenance in the house.... In the tiny space there was to work in, I'm not sure why two people were needed when one could barely fit. I do know that I was charged full for mechanic AND helper. I will do my research before hiring another contractor. Glad to have a free running drain."

In 1967, Steve and Mick Heidler took over the company and expanded Heidler, Inc. into a full service plumbing and heating company that provides service to both residential and commercial accounts, bathroom and kitchen remodel clients, and keeps customers warm with gas log fireplaces. Heidler, Inc. uses advanced technology to diagnose sewer and drain problems with state of the art video inspection equipment. Technicians are trained in the latest methods and techniques to provide quality service and customer satisfaction. Employees are encouraged to pursue their education in the plumbing industry, and we pair Apprentice plumbers with Journeymen and Master plumbers for hands on experience to better meet customer needs. Heidler, Inc. has a fleet of nineteen fully stocked box trucks and vans and a warehouse on site to equip our technicians before they leave the shop. Our fully integrated computer system handles all billing and service requests and we dispatch our technicians to you via radio to take care of your plumbing emergencies faster 24-7.

"I don't recommend Heidler. Last month the internal mechanism in a 16-year-old pressure-assist toilet needed service or replacement (the water had started running constantly after flushing). I set an appointment for Heidler to come the next week and sent a photo of the internal mechanism's product information so the tech could bring parts. Plumber Tom arrived unprepared. He charged $200 for the house visit to diagnose that we needed a new mechanism installed, and said they'd email an estimate as they'd need to order it. We thought there was a mistake when we got the $850 estimate. I called the Heidler office (whose service manager also thought the estimate sounded high) and requested a corrected estimate. We didn't hear from anyone at Heidler again. We watched 20 minutes of youtube videos, bought the $177 mechanism from Amazon, and borrowed a pipe wrench. It took us amateurs 55 minutes to replace the mechanism ourselves. It wasn't difficult. Our opinion is Heidler planned to grossly overcharge us for an easy job."

At National Water Service, we set the standard for home water treatment, purification, as well as a complete line of well pumps, boosters, etc. In dealing with Residential areas, one of the important things a homeowner needs to consider is water quality. It is important to note that whether on City Water or a Well System, water quality can vary quite a bit from neighborhood to neighborhood. National Water Service is happy to do a basic analysis at no charge. And if extensive testing is deemed necessary, we have testing services available. National Water Service has been installing and servicing complex water systems in Restaurants, Hotels, Hospitals, Shopping Centers, and various other sites all over the the DC Metro area for over 45 years. We work with Architects, Builders, and Construction Firms to create custom applications for Water Treatment and Purification. This is always done to ensure that there are no surprises during the project. Our in-house experienced team has over 40-years experience of hands-on knowledge of residential building. Even the sales staff has multiple years of actual construction experience. There is no guesswork - we know your home from inside and out and will be on-site everyday from beginning to end. You will notice on vehicles this catch phrase "Responsibility and Accountability", that is what our company is built on. This is not a tag line, this is what everyone of us works from daily.

"Worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. Conversations were often fine, then later became combative, condescending, and ultimately profanely insulting, so unprofessional that it was shocking. Work was sometimes good, and later some of the mistakes and miscalculations they made they did not "own" as you would want a general contractor to do. Finally, when they ended the job we had to hire a second contractor to fix the structural mistakes they made."

FAQs for water softener service projects in Edgewater, MD

The license requirements for water softener installation depend on your location. Some municipalities require that the installer hold a plumbing license, some require a permit and an inspection, but no license for the installer, and some require a permit and a license for the installer. Regardless of the local laws in your area, it’s always a good idea to hire a licensed plumber or installer. These pros will install your system properly and have the experience to size the system appropriately. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your installer’s license status.

Water softeners are worth the money if you live in an area with hard water. Hard water is safe to drink, but it poses serious threats to your plumbing system. The minerals in hard water will gradually build up on the inside walls of your pipes, reducing water flow to your fixtures. The minerals can also gradually corrode your plumbing system, reduce its lifespan, and increase the risk of leaks. Hard water also makes soap and detergent less effective. Water softener systems can solve all these issues, making them a great investment.

It’s possible to install a water softener yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Water softeners require working with copper pipes and electrical wiring, neither are suitable tasks for most DIYers. Plus, working with water and electricity together is dangerous and could pose a risk to your safety. Water softeners also need to be calibrated so that they don’t make your water too soft, as soft water poses just as many risks as hard water. Overall, it’s well worth hiring a local water softener installer to place your water softener system.

The cost to install a water softener system is $1,500 on average, ranging between $200 and $6,000. The labor for water softener work typically costs between $150 and $1,000, so you can add that to your equipment costs to get an accurate total. Your price will depend on many factors, including the following:

  • System capacity

  • Home size

  • Water hardness levels

  • Type of water softener

  • Presence of electricity in the installation area

  • Local permit costs

Your water softener size is based on your total household water consumption. In most cases, you can assume the average household member will use around 75 gallons per day. Multiply that by the number of people in your home, then multiply by 10 (for the typical grains per gallon). You’ll get a number in grains that should help roughly size your water softener. However, it’s best to hire a professional to install your system and use more exact numbers, like your exact average water consumption per day and starting water hardness.
