"I will most certainly be using Druziako again. I was searching to have central air installed in an older cape that had forced hot air. Local HVAC companies would come out, tell me I would get a quotre in a few days and take over a week to give me an estimate. Druziako provided an estimate the next day after looking at my house! Druziako was recommended by my electrician after I explained to him how aggravated I was becoming with the local HVAC companies. My quote was solid, work was performed that week and finished in a day, no surprises at all. I would recommend Druziako to my friends and family and will be using them again to service my system."

"I bought my unit from NETR in 2018. It worked fine until we discovered it wasn't blowing any cold air. I made the big mistake of hiring someone a family friend recommended and they diagnosed it incorrectly and then basically disappeared on me. Anyway, it took a few weeks but they repaired it today and I was impressed with their courtesy and getting the job done very quickly and successfully. I felt like I was being dealt with honestly. Thanks, Jared and Jack. I should mention I paid about $300 for the refrigerant today. I don't know what the final cost will be but probably a bit over $1000."

"Airco is a great family-owned and operated business, very fair and knowledgeable. They replaced our forced air central heating system (oil) in a day, and were quick to respond and get to work despite how busy things were during the January cold-spell. I would highly recommend for your heating and cooling needs!"

"My husband and I decided to get central AC after this hot summer and fall. We decided to contact Genove Oil & Air Co because of the several reviews we saw with high remarks. After speaking with and meeting Phil to install our AC unit we knew we were going with the right choice. We felt confident throughout the entire process because of his ability to answer our questions and provide a clear timeline for the project. Phil and the team were incredibly pleasant, respectful and professional while on sight, and better yet we are finally COOL! Please do yourself a favor and reach out to Genove Oil & Air-- you will not be disappointed."

"We could not have been more pleased. We needed to replace our first floor AC, which is a split-type ductless system, about 17 years old. We had an idea of what the cost would be from an online site: [*** Link removed ***] We got 4 bids, 3 from A rated Angie's List contractors to install a Mitsubishi system (top of the line). Except for one, which was off the charts, the bids weren't that far apart. While Unique was not the lowest bid, we chose them for three reasons: (1) Jason (their rep) was the most savvy about the Mass Save and Mass CEC Air Source rebates, which were quite significant (he handled all the rebate paperwork for us); (2) Unique was able to do the job in a week; and (3) Unique included all the electric work into the total bid (rewiring was required). The installation team (John and Quinn) was excellent. It took them a day and half, They were quiet, neat, professional, highly respectful of our homes and proud of their work. We had worried that they would have to remove wooden ductwork which had been recently painted, but they managed to snake the new hoses through the existing ductwork without disturbing anything. Unique had an electrical contractor on site who replaced the breakers on our electrical panel, installed a higher capacity wire from the panel to the AC system, and replaced the cutoff switch on the outside. We were quite pleased with Unique's work, and would definitely recommend them to others."

"We are overall very happy with the project. Sila had to install a high velocity air conditioning system in very limited space. They provided a timely quote and showed up and did the work professionally and on time. There were a few hiccups, such as the installation of the hatch to the attic space, but Sila’s carpenter agreed to fix the problem at no additional cost to us, so I consider that to be excellent service. After two weeks, the system has been performing exactly as we hoped."

"I got my air ducts cleaned in my new house. I had no idea when they were last cleaned. It was my fault I didn't have my number in my Angie's list profile so they couldn't call me to schedule the appointment. My wife called them instead and the woman who answered didn't seem to know what was going on and we never got a call back. We had to call twice, she said someone would call us, nothing happened. Then I responded to the initial email and someone called me back right away to schedule the appointment. Their front desk could use some help. The man who came to my house was very nice, very friendly, very professional. He even wore coverings on his boots to not get my floors dirty. He walked me through what he was going to do, how long it will take, and explained the whole process to me. My only complaint was he said he would show me before and after photos, but he never did for some reason. Duct Kings said it's not part of the deal so I can't fault them for that, but I wish the guy didn't tease me with it. The dust and dirt I could see aren't there any more, and he was there for a long time so I can only assume they were nice and clean. I would use them again."

Small jobs welcome

"Peter did an excellent job tuning up my A/C system. He was extremely diligent in making sure my A/C unit was up to speed for cooling for the upcoming summer weather. I know I will most likely need a new system installed in the near future as this one is on it's last legs. I know who to call when I need a new A/C unit installed and it will be Peter!"

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Replacing an HVAC system does not always include new ductwork. The decision depends on the condition of your existing ducts. If they are in good shape, correctly sized for the new unit, and meet current standards, they can often be reused. However, if the ducts are damaged, poorly designed, or improperly sized, they will likely need to be replaced or upgraded to ensure the new system operates efficiently. An HVAC contractor will assess your ductwork and recommend the best course of action. Typically, ductwork is purchased separately, and a full replacement will add to the overall project cost.

Yes, it is possible. An electrical fire can break out if the compressor has inadequate ventilation. When it overheats but doesn't have a proper thermal cutout, this can cause the motor to short-circuit and catch fire. This risk is exacerbated if flammable materials, like dust and fallen leaves, are clogging the unit. The compressor overheating won't start a fire by itself, but poor maintenance and installation can increase the risk once it hits its breaking point and short-circuits.

If your home has an existing forced-air heat system, you can add a central air conditioner to it. An HVAC technician can retrofit your forced-air heating system by installing an evaporator coil onto the furnace plenum, the box next to the furnace that draws in air. Once installed, the air conditioning coils use the furnace’s blower to circulate the air.

Traditional central air conditioning systems require ductwork to circulate air throughout the home. Alternatively, you can add air conditioning with a mini-split ductless air conditioning system, which can be just as energy efficient as a central air conditioner. This type of system consists of two units–an outside unit that holds the compressor and condenser and an indoor unit that holds an air-handler. With multi-zone ductless systems, there are multiple indoor air handlers tied to a single outdoor compressor/condenser, allowing the system to cool multiple rooms.

The difference between a home surge protector and an HVAC surge protector is that an HVAC surge protector is designed to protect the components inside your HVAC unit while a home surge protector is installed near appliances and meant to protect your entire home. There are three tiers of whole-house surge protectors, and they are more expensive to install than HVAC surge protectors.
