"I had an old storm door that did not stay closed. I contacted Shoreline Home Services through Home Advisor. Mr Swanson came to my home very quickly and we looked at the problem. It was determined that I needed a new storm door. Mr Swanson helped me with the selection and ordering of a new storm door. When the new door arrived it was installed without delay. Installation was expertly done. From start to finish working with Shoreline Homer Services and Mr Swanson was an excellent experience."

"Excellent! David and his Team were Great! They replaced a rotting board below a patio sliding glass door. They showed up on time, completed the project the same day, were able to move a 700 pound granite step, and did this all in heavy rain. I would highly recommend David and his Team. "Our experience in selecting Pontes Painting is as follows: four paint contractors visited and surveyed the two story- shingled, sixteen window house to survey the project . I had prepared questions and took notes on each survey, sent an email to each contractor to confirm my notes of their survey, and requested a return confirmation and detailed quotation from each, via email. . Only Pontes Painting replied with an email detailed quotation, with each line item clearly explained. including paint type, manufacturer, color and number of paint coats, surface preparation, number of painters in the crew, schedule and detailed pricing breakdowns, , time to complete the project, warranty and payment terms, along with copies of the 13 house photos taken during R Pontess survey. One of the other contractors visited again in person to review his prepared hand written proposal. *** Pontes Painting was selected., pricing was competitive *** Sept 19, 2023, two, Pontes Painting and vans arrived promptly at 8:00 AM, with a total crew of four including a supervisor who remained on site ( and also painted) the entire day. The crew also included a skilled carpenter/painter. The carpenter completely rebuilt the basement door door frame. The crew was respectful, polite, clean cut, cooperative in every way, complied with several special requests. Safety first for the customer and crew, meaning that the crew took the time at the end of the day to take down the ladders, stack them and place off to the side of the yard walking area at the end of each day Also, they picked up trash & cleaned up each day, never asked for anything or to use our facilities, Email and phone communications with R Pontes was continuously expedient, he gave very good advice to us on what to do and what not to do on color combinations. We are very glad that we took his advice. They re-installed all of our shutters on sixteen windows. The project was completed in two days. We surveyed the project on ( sunny) Thursday(( 9/21) AM, found several spots that needed touch- up. The supervisor returned on that same Thursday afternoon, completed each touch- up to our satisfaction. I had to TIP them. I highly recommend Pontes Painting."

Doors questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can absolutely install an exterior door yourself, and installing a prehung exterior door requires few tools. However, exterior doors are heavy and bulky, and any mistakes during the installation process could have severe consequences, like a lack of security in your home, an increased risk of water getting in and causing damage, and an increased risk of pest infestation. It’s definitely possible to install an exterior door yourself, but it’s often a good idea to have a professional do it for you.

To achieve the correct opening size for a 30-inch door, add 2 inches to the door width and 2 ½ inches to the door height. For example, if you have a 30-inch-wide door with an 80-inch height, then the rough opening would measure 32 inches wide by 82 1/2 inches high

This hack required some hand strength. First, bend the fork's tines. Next, slip the pointed ends into the door latch and close the door. Open the door to remove the fork and break off the fork's handle. Reinsert the fork's head into the door latch and close the door. Finally, slide the fork's handle through the tines, creating a horizontal barrier that prevents the door from opening inward.

Solid wood is a durable and attractive option for cabinet doors that holds up well against a small amount of moisture. However, solid wood doors will expand and contract, meaning upkeep will be necessary if painted. Particleboard with veneer cabinet doors are cost-effective and can be attractive. MDF cabinet doors offer excellent and predictable workability features. However, both of those options are vulnerable to damage if water finds its way through the veneer or paint finish.

Many doors can be cut to size, but it depends on the door material. Solid wood doors are relatively easy to trim to a specific size, while hollow core and metal doors are trickier and can usually only be shaved down a little before you risk damaging them. If your door needs a lot of adjustment, it's best to order a custom size or have a pro do the resizing to make sure it holds up over time.
