"

They were outstanding!  They came out immediately to figure out what I needed and then came out today to replace the window.  The gentleman who came was incredibly nice, professional and FAST!  I would absolutely use them again.

"They completely lived up to their reputation, and that was in the snowy winter of 2015. I had a tight schedule with another contractor doing work on the 3rd floor stairs, with an about 10-day window before my tenant was due to give birth, so Rob and sons fit us in and stayed late to get the work done. They cleaned up meticulously every day. Rob was a pleasure to deal with and I highly recommend Calnan's Energy Systems.

"I waited a while because they are backed up due to Covid but they were definitely worth the wait. They were precise, quick and extremely detailed. They put two windows in for me (where windows didn't exist before) and covered up a window. They insulated and everything. No painting but that was cool. I was very impressed. Definitely would recommend them and hire them again...and again....and again"

"My first time working with Bob he was clearing ice dams from my roof last winter. This time he was doing more extensive and really varied work and he was just as wonderful to work with. Quickly responsive to email inquiry about his availability, he scheduled the day he'd be here in advance, called on his way here to let me know he was coming each day - I so appreciate that level of communication. He also took the time to walk around my house with me and point out things I should be thinking about and helped me prioritize projects, and to show me the work he'd done.
He works nonstop and so hard -- and does such a beautiful skillful job. He is good at analyzing what the problem might be and investigating it (leaks of various kinds in various places) and his work - whether it's installing chimney cap, rebuilding window frame, rebuilding porch stairs, installing roof heating cable, chimney cap, painting-- is all expertly done, without exception. He cleaned up everything after he worked  -- just A+ job all around in every sense. I will definitely have him work here again.

Windows questions, answered by experts

The amount of time window lintels last is based on the environment they’re installed in and the material that’s installed. For example, a steel lintel installed in a temperate climate will always last longer than a wooden or brick lintel installed in an area with tons of rain, snow, and wind. No matter which material you choose or where you live, proper maintenance will ensure your lintels last as long as possible.

Depending on material and size, costs range from $300 to $800 per window.

The primary benefits of an egress window include providing a safe emergency exit, increasing natural light in a space like a basement, and improving ventilation. Additionally, installing an egress window can often increase your property's value.

If your double-glazed windows are letting in a lot of noise, it might be because of improper installation. You may need to apply an acoustic caulk around the window to close any gaps or hire a window installation expert to fix the windows. Double-glazed windows are typically more effective at reducing noise when they have thicker glass panels or have a gas filling, like argon or krypton, between the two glass panels.

Making a window in a basement larger costs an average of $4,200. You’ll need to pay an average of $550 to have a structural engineer plan the project, $500 to $1,500 for the installation labor, and an average of $2,200 for the excavation and window well installation. The remainder will go toward pulling permits, installing trim, and repairing drywall on the interior.
