Customers say: Quick response

"Marcin and team did a great job redoing the plumbing in my entire house. We also discovered cracks in our waste line and he replaced all of the original cast iron lines in the basement and coordinated with the contractor who replaced our exterior water and sewer lines unexpectedly. He was quick to respond to questions and requests, very reliable, and did a great job plumbing 2.5 bathrooms, laundry, and kitchen."

"I have had Spencer Home Services work on my house before and they were recently here again on an unrelated issue. Rich came out and solved the problem like any good plumber would. The difference is Rich’s attitude, respectful of our needs and time was outstanding. As a homeowner it’s great to know you can trust your repairman to do a good job."

"My hot water heater gave out just as the pandemic was getting underway. MIKE CAME TO MY RESCUE when I searched on Home Advisor for a plumber. He respected my safety concerns about the virus. Plumbing questions, answered by experts

The longevity of plumbing work in Everett depends heavily on proper pipe sizing and correct venting, especially in tall triple-deckers with shared stack vents. The regional water supply is slightly acidic, so contractors must use proper dielectric fittings to prevent rapid pipe corrosion. Additionally, underground installations near the Malden River require flexible connections to withstand ground movement and high water tables in filled land areas.

Helpful?

Everett experiences intense freeze-thaw cycles and rapid temperature drops during winter Nor’easters, creating severe expansion and contraction stress on uninsulated pipes. Heavy spring and fall precipitation overworks aging combined sewer systems, causing drain slowdowns and basement flooding. High summer humidity accelerates corrosion on exposed metal components in basements. Always bury exterior plumbing below the 48-inch frost line to protect your infrastructure from freezing temperatures.

Helpful?

Prioritize safety during plumbing projects in pre-1986 MA homes by flushing taps for two minutes and avoiding hot tap water for cooking to prevent lead exposure. Install anti-scald valves at tub and shower fixtures to reduce burn risks for children and pets. Secure shared basement water heaters from child access. Always coordinate water shutoffs with your neighbors in multi-unit buildings to ensure vulnerable residents retain water access.

Helpful?

Protect your plumbing by disconnecting exterior hose bibs before late November freezes. Inspect basement pipe insulation, especially in attached housing with shared walls. After a hard winter freeze, check exposed pipes for micro-fractures and test your water heater pressure relief valve. In spring, inspect sump pumps and floor drains before heavy rains arrive. Finally, check washing machine supply hoses before the heavy indoor use season begins in MA.

Helpful?

In Everett’s historic triple-deckers, rust-colored water or slow drains signal degrading cast iron or galvanized pipes. Gurgling sounds during heavy rain point to sewer line backpressure. A drop in water pressure in pre-1950 homes indicates pipe corrosion near the service line. Address these signs immediately to prevent pipe failure. Check basement walls for white mineral deposits, as these highlight chronic slow leaks requiring professional plumbing attention.
