"Rob had recently replaced my kitchen and bathroom faucets and I called him to see if he could now replace my gas water heater. I was happily surprised when he said he’d be out within a couple of days and I was REALLY pleased with his estimate. For both jobs, Rob showed up when he said would and was both fast and efficient. He’s a great guy - dependable, reasonable, professional and focused on providing good service to his customers. Rob is my “go to” plumber from now on!"

Customers say: Quality work

"I heartily recommend Petros Floros of Floros Plumbing & Heating Co. from Melrose, serving the greater Boston area. He is a master Plumber who is expert, reliable and efficient. He has a genial demeanor and is easy to work with. No matter what he is doing, he will manage to fit you in for most immediate emergency jobs and in a reasonable time for the rest. His customer reviews on Yelp and Google and Angi are all sterling. I recently used him for a double install job with a new kitchen faucet and garbage disposal. He whipped through the project and left everything brand spanking new in perfect working order. I have used him in the past and he never disappoints."

"This was the second time we used H L Bowman for our plumbing needs and we have been impressed both times. Their plumbers are prompt, courteous, and friendly, in addition to being great at their craft. For this visit, I had a leak under a kitchen sink and did not realize that I needed to have the entire faucet replaced. The plumber recommended the closest plumbing supply store and waited while I selected the one I wanted. He efficiently did the replacement. Very happy with H L Bowman and would highly recommend them."

Customers say: Quick response

"Marcin and team did a great job redoing the plumbing in my entire house. We also discovered cracks in our waste line and he replaced all of the original cast iron lines in the basement and coordinated with the contractor who replaced our exterior water and sewer lines unexpectedly. He was quick to respond to questions and requests, very reliable, and did a great job plumbing 2.5 bathrooms, laundry, and kitchen."

"They came out right away and assessed the situation to let us know that we needed to hire a plumber right away. He fixed the drains until we could get a plumber out there. They were able to clean out the clog in our drain to have some water flow."

"We had Joe and team remodel our 10 by 10 master bath. The estimate was prompt and reasonably priced, and demonstrated familiarity with the finishes and features I was considering, like large-format tiles with Schluter trim pieces, built-in shower bench, niches for shower and tub, etc. They demo'd the existing bath and removed a lot of material. Floor protection was good through the entire path to the worksite, especially in my adjacent bedroom which remained occupied. They also helped set aside some fixtures at my request that I could sell or donate, which helped defray some of the renovation costs. We had a delay after that; my freestanding tub and engineered stone shower base had a long lead time...in hindsight, I wish we had them on hand before starting demo, so it meant we paused the project while waiting on materials. We also had some surprises that were unforeseeable, like finding that the original contractor who built my bathroom (not Joe) had notched a beam incorrectly, so the building inspector required an engineer to sign off on repairs to the beam. Once the structural work and rough plumbing was completed, the drywall, painting, tile, and finish plumbing work went pretty quickly. We had a few punchlist items come up with the plumbing, but I coordinated with Joe over email/text or with the onsite project foreman to get things resolved. The team usually arrived on workdays in that 'sweet spot' after I got ready but before I left for work, which helped with communication. They also worked on Saturdays during peak effort times, which helped us to recover from some of our schedule delays. The project looks like a million bucks now. We loved the work that they were doing in the bathroom so much that we had them add on several projects, such as patching drywall from former roof leaks, repairing a leaking rotted exterior door jamb, and painting nearly every room in the house--which involved a lot of ladder work, as some of our ceilings are up to sixteen feet high. I'm amazed at how excited I was with the drywall work...I can't even tell where they cut out some of the old drywall and replaced it. Way nicer than the patch jobs I've attempted before. The foreperson also did a great job with my custom special order vanity that arrived with a very small defect on the side panel/leg. He did some sort of wizardry and flipped a piece around and trimmed another bit to put the defect in a more hidden spot, which saved me from waiting several more weeks for a replacement. The master bath now looks like the relaxing spa I envisioned, and the rest of the house feels brand new again. The only work that they didn't do in the bathroom was installing the glass shower enclosure and the Zodiaq countertop, which were handled by others."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Start your seasonal routine for plumbing work in the fall by draining exterior hose bibs and insulating exposed pipes before the first hard freeze in MA. During winter, monitor visible pipes for stress and locate your main shutoff valve. In spring, test your sump pump to handle heavy snowmelt. Finally, inspect your system for slow drains during the summer, as tree root intrusion peaks in warmer months.

Helpful?

A frequent mistake during plumbing projects is skipping required permits, which leads to failed inspections. Homeowners in Saugus also overlook proper insulation for exterior pipes, causing bursts during harsh winter freezes. Another error involves disturbing older galvanized or lead pipes without a licensed professional. Always account for local wetlands regulations before installing drainage systems near the Saugus River to avoid compliance issues.

Helpful?

Completing plumbing projects significantly enhances your daily comfort by resolving chronic issues like low water pressure and slow drains. Upgrading older pipes improves water clarity and taste by removing sediment. In MA, installing modern water heaters reduces long wait times for hot water. Adding reliable sump pumps stops basement flooding near the Saugus River, while updating insulation prevents stressful pipe bursts during freezing winter nights.

Helpful?

Schedule plumbing projects immediately if you notice discolored water, recurring slow drains, or sudden spikes in your water bill. In Saugus, original galvanized pipes from the mid-twentieth century and water heaters over ten years old require replacement. Any minor basement flooding signals an urgent need for drainage upgrades. You should also book a professional inspection before buying or selling an older home to uncover unpermitted past work.

Helpful?

Your property is a prime candidate for plumbing projects if it was built before 1980, especially in older Saugus neighborhoods like Cliftondale. These homes feature outdated galvanized steel pipes or cast iron drains that require replacement. Homes near the Saugus River floodplain lacking proper sump pumps also need immediate drainage upgrades. Check local public works records to see if your property requires mandatory lead service line replacements.
