"They were great and offered coupons for future work. Carpets looked better than they had in years, and couch and chair were greatly improved. We would work with them again!"

"I hired Matrix to clean an upholstered recliner and a loveseat that were favorite spots for our large boxer. Both pieces came out very nice and clean with no 'dog smell' at all. They were very quick and cleaned up everything - I would definitely hire them again!"

"We have actually used this provider a couple of times, but most recently we had an emergency in which one of our dogs ate a bag of white chocolate morsels and proceeded to throw up in every single room of our house (no one was home).  She threw up in places like the middle of a sofa (efficiently and effectively soiling 4 cushions as well as the base of the sofa) and an upholstered chair (again, hitting the seat cushion, back, and base).  Keith and his technicians came on two occasions to clean up the mess, which I honestly did not think could be done.  The rugs and chair and sofa are cleaner than ever before, and we have our home back.  Keith's prices are very fair, and he is very accommodating to his customers' schedules.

"Several months ago I noticed that the arm on my leather sofa was soiled from food stains on it that needed to be removed.  I remembered that I had some saddle soap and I used it to clean the arm.  The saddle soap removed the stain but also part of the finish on the leather.  I was petrified.  This was a very expensive sofa and I had caused permanent damage to it myself.
I called Room and Board, the company I had purchased the sofa from, and they gave me the names of two companies they recommended.  I called both and explained the situation, yet neither one for whatever the reason completed the work for me.  In fact neither one ever came to my home to look at the problem nor did they even return my phone calls and emails.
At that point I turned to Yelp and found Premier.  I called and spoke with Bill Tobias the owner and he came over the next day.  He explained what had caused the problem and  how the sofa could be repaired like new.  We scheduled a service appointment for the following week.  The day prior to the appointment Bill called to confirm and then showed up on time with his daughter Michelle.
They explained again what needed to be done and immediately began the work.  I  thought at first the price was a bit excessive but they were here for over four hours.  They vacuumed the sofa under the cushions and then gave it a complete cleaning using a special solvent.  This detailing revealed additional spots that had been damaged previously by incorrect cleaning.  At that point their dying expert arrived.  He first matched the color and then sprayed the entire sofa.  When he was done, it looked like new.
I found both Bill and Michelle to be delightful people, a father and daughter team who worked together so amicably.  Michelle in particular was amazing.  She could easily do stand up comedy if she so desired.  I enjoyed talking with both of them.  Michelle also told me the other services they offer including the cleaning of expensive area rugs.  I can without any hesitation recommend them for leather cleaning and repair.

Upholstering questions, answered by experts

Doing your own upholstery work is possible, but it’s typically a better idea to leave the work to professionals. Without experience and the proper tools, it’s difficult to get a professionally finished appearance for your furniture, and many DIYers end up spending money on tools and materials only to hire a professional when they can’t get the fabric to look right. If you have reupholstery experience, feel free to give it a shot. However, if you’re not confident in your skill level or you’re working with antiques, it’s worth the money to hire a pro.

It is generally worth repairing leather furniture rather than replacing it, as it is typically more affordable and the material tends to retain its value. A typical repair averages around $250, which is significantly less than the thousands of dollars a replacement could cost. Even a full reupholstering, which can cost up to $4,000, may still be more economical than buying new. With proper care, repaired leather furniture can last for many years, making the investment worthwhile. However, if the underlying structure or frame of the furniture is damaged or malfunctioning, replacement might be a better option. The quality of the leather and the furniture piece are also important factors. For a definitive answer, it is best to consult a leather repair professional to assess your specific situation.

If your couch is damaged, you are not out of options. You might try fixing it on your own, bring in a furniture repair specialist, or opt to get rid of it responsibly. Depending on its condition, you could donate, sell, recycle, or drop it off at a local scrap facility.

The process usually takes 1-2 weeks, and it is highly influenced by the materials, complexity of the project, and any customization desired.

It is often worthwhile to refinish or restore furniture, especially for high-quality, older, antique, or sentimental pieces. Older furniture tends to have better durability than modern, mass-produced items, and refinishing can cost about one-third of the price of replacement. To determine if it's cost-effective, compare quotes from local refinishing services with the price of a new, similar piece. Refinishing can refresh a piece's look and extend its lifespan. However, it may not be worth it for newer furniture made of medium-density fiberboard (MDF) or plywood, or for items with major structural damage. A professional can help you assess the piece and decide on the best course of action.
