"The technician did come, he was punctual, checked all the electrical in the house, he knew what he was doing, but it did feel like he was in a hurry to leave. He wanted me to hire his brother to complete air conditioning work, which I declined. I had someone else fixed the AC."

"Very good. Change over to the LED was quickly done and very improved lighting. Reasonable price and very efficient. Because we were impressed with the work, we also had Destiny Electric install an exhaust fan in the master bathroom where none was present. Work crew arrived at appointed time and efficiently installed the new fan in very reasonable time and at reasonable price. We would have Destiny Electric handled any future electrical at our home."

Small jobs welcome

"I needed my electrical box changed in order to obtain a new insurance home policy. It was really time sensitive, and Mr. Alie of Dalie Solutions, LLC came to my home to complete the work on New Year Day which was the only opening in his schedule for the current week. The actual electrical box install went very smoothly, but then there was an issue with the location of wiring that was not correctly installed previously. Mr. Alie persevered until the wire was found and the issue corrected. I enjoyed his professionalism, knowledge and experience, as well as, the care that he provided to my home. He and his assistant, Carl, cleaned up the work area before they left and ensured that my home was left in a pristine condition. I really appreciated that and the quality job that he performed."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

New homeowners in Saint Augustine should prioritize a comprehensive electrical inspection, especially in historic or coastal neighborhoods. Upgrade the electrical panel if it’s outdated, and install GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces to address humidity risks. Consider whole-home surge protection due to frequent lightning. Ensure all exterior outlets are weatherproof, and verify pool or spa wiring meets current safety codes for the coastal environment.

Helpful?

After electrical work in Saint Augustine, arrange a final inspection and keep all project documentation. Notify your insurance provider about any upgrades, as this may impact your coverage. Install surge protection if not already done, and regularly check for corrosion on outdoor outlets due to coastal humidity. Test GFCI outlets monthly, and schedule annual electrical safety inspections to ensure continued home safety in the local climate.

Helpful?

In Saint Augustine, address any exposed wiring, code violations, or hurricane-related electrical damage immediately for home safety. Issues like missing GFCI outlets, water-damaged panels, or overloaded circuits should not be delayed. Upgrades for convenience, such as adding smart controls or increasing panel capacity, can be scheduled later. Plan major electrical projects before hurricane season and allow extra time for permits, especially in historic districts.

Helpful?

In Saint Augustine, electrical projects can impact HVAC, irrigation, pool equipment, and security systems, especially in older homes or those with shared circuits. Watch for signs like shared breakers or outdated wiring near plumbing. If your home is in a flood-prone area, electrical updates may also affect sump pumps or backup power systems. Consult a licensed electrical contractor to assess potential impacts before starting work.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Saint Augustine, start by checking if your property is within a historic district, as this may require extra design reviews. Review neighborhood guidelines and coordinate with your electrical contractor early, especially for panel upgrades or generator installations. Schedule work outside peak tourist months for better availability. Always plan for compliance with the latest hurricane standards and local electrical codes, considering the city’s frequent storms and salt air.
