"Enjoyed working with Holidays on landscaping the back yard after installing a pool. They had great communication, showed up when scheduled, offered ideas and suggestions, worked to help get the most out of our budget, and were responsive to follow up questions and requests. Danielle provides great customer service, quick response, and guaranteed follow through."

"Extremely pleased with all aspects of project. Jon is a very hardworking, experienced landscaper. He was on time and accomplished the job in an efficient manner. He would volunteer suggestions based on his years of experience when he thought they would be helpful, and they were. The project involved resodding, design of landscaping beds, tree trimming, and irrigation improvements. He was meticulous, removing all his trimmings and clippings, and never left a mess, a very professional worker. I highly recommend his work."

"I have contacted 15+ lawn care business through different channels. Yelp, fb, angis list etc. I had 3 companies actually call me back. Out of the 3 only one even bothered to come out, everyone else said itâ s not worth it because we live â too farâ . Joeyâ s on the other hand was more than willing to come out right away to give me a quote, no pressure to go with him or anything. He was kind and listened to everything we wanted and gave suggestions on our flower beds and future plans for what weâ d like to do. He is very affordable that is no lie, but for the price the quality of work you get is EXCELLENT! He was thorough and efficient, clean our flower beds, trimmer our hedges, cut and edged our almost acre property and all we could say was WOW! My husband and I cannot stop looking at our yard and really enjoy spending time our back now. Thank you, Joey!"

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

It is possible to plant a tree over a ground stump if it was ground very deeply. However, it is typically best to plant elsewhere so your new tree has room to establish a strong, healthy root system. If you want to plant a tree in the same spot where you currently have a stump, you may want to consider other options, such as stump removal.

The best time to plant a tree is in the spring, so the roots have time to grow into the surrounding soil before winter sets in. Some people recommend planting in the late fall. However, planting in the spring reduces the stress on the tree, as it will be emerging from dormancy, giving it the full spring and summer ahead to acclimate and put down roots into the soil.

The soil around your foundation should slope down and away from your home, not toward it. If the grading drops the farther you are from your home, you can enhance the slope by removing more soil. Mark off a few feet from your house and dig up some of this soil. Regrading around your fountain should encourage water to flow away from your home and not collect or “pond.”

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

Moss attaches to the ground but doesn’t have roots, so it can take four to six weeks for establishment to begin. It takes between 12 and 18 months for full coverage, and maximum thickness takes about two years. Keep your moss moist and debris-free to ensure it establishes itself well.
