"He was very polite and honest. Cleaned up when the job was finished. He had to move a lot of stuff to get to the tank. I told him he could leave it out & I would get my son-in-law to help put it back. He moved everything back into its place. Very pleased customer."

"I spoke with Sara & Amy regarding the appointment and both were very professional and friendly. Stephen & Eddie arrived early this morning and really put in the effort to make this a good experience for me. They went to a lot of trouble to avoid having to replace the septic tank cover, saving me over $400. Thanks guys!! I would not hesitate to recommend BVD Septic (aka Presto Plumbing)."

"They gave us an estimate, we got a septic permit and then they gave us a proposal/price. We called them on a Friday to ask when they could start working. Sean said they would be out Monday to bring materials and start work on Tuesday. They got a slow start and showed up with the materials on Tuesday and a backhoe on Wednesday and started working on Thursday. The following Monday they had completed most of the work. They installed a new infiltrator 1080 gallon septic tank in the backyard to replace the existing gray water and septic tanks. They did not pump out either tank and broke apart the septic tank to make room for the new tank. They also installed a 540 gallon dosing tank with an alarm and pump. Then, they put an infiltrator drain field in the front yard and ran electrical to the pump. They finished this work on Monday and we didn't hear anything from them. I called the health department on Friday afternoon and was told that Xtreme renovations had just called them and that they would be able to send someone out from the health department on Monday. The work must have passed inspection because someone from Xtreme Renovations came out on Tuesday and they finished covering up the septic tanks, pump and drain field yesterday - Wednesday. During the process of covering up the drain field with sand, they broke our front walkway. When they called Wednesday for the last payment we told them it was broken and they sent someone out the same day to fix it. Start to finish it took them 2 and a half weeks to complete the job."

"They did the job right. Took my lid off to get the entire tank! Previous company I hired, wouldnâ t do this. He sprayed the back of my tank and ran water to flush the tank as well! Would recommend!"

"It was fair. The end result was fine but there were some issues along the way that left both of us not very happy. The offer was originally for a 50gallon tank, he ended up installing a 40gallon tank without telling us. We ended up making him remove it and give us a 50gallon tank. He had also told us the modal number of the 50gallon tank he was going to get, which we approved, but he ended up installing a different modal which was a lower modal than the one he had originally said. It was a sort of bait and switch. We had agreed to pay him some additional for the modal that he had said but when he installed the lower modal, he still expected to be paid additional. We refused to do that, so he left not very happy. In terms of his workmanship and quality of his installation, he definitely did a nice job. One needs to be cautious and very specific with him and to check every stage along the way but he did good work in the end.  We paid more than the Big Deal price."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Homeowners in Saint Augustine are increasingly selecting advanced treatment units, larger concrete tanks for durability, and smart monitoring systems for real-time alerts. Aerobic treatment systems and hurricane-resistant lids are also trending, especially in flood-prone neighborhoods. Many residents upgrade to low-pressure pipe systems to handle sandy soil, and remote tank monitoring is gaining popularity for easier septic maintenance and early detection of issues.

Helpful?

In Saint Augustine, homes with narrow driveways, mature oak trees, or extensive patios may limit access for septic service vehicles. Properties in historic areas often have older plumbing or unique layouts that require custom solutions. Coastal homes or those on sloped lots may need lift stations to manage wastewater. Reviewing your property’s landscaping and any past additions helps identify possible challenges before scheduling septic maintenance.

Helpful?

In Saint Augustine, you can help prevent septic problems by using water efficiently, scheduling laundry on different days, and only flushing septic-safe toilet paper. After heavy rain, check for soggy patches or unusual odors near your drain field, as these may signal early issues. Avoid planting deep-rooted trees near the tank and never pour grease down drains. For persistent backups or foul smells, contact a septic maintenance expert promptly.

Helpful?

The longevity of a septic system in Saint Augustine depends on professional installation, choosing the right tank size, and consistent septic maintenance like routine pumping. Sandy soils and saltwater exposure require durable materials and proper drainage planning. Following local regulations, using water wisely, and keeping heavy vehicles off the drain field all contribute to system health. Proactive care helps your septic system withstand Saint Augustine’s unique climate and soil conditions.

Helpful?

When planning septic tank service in Saint Augustine, consider the high water table, sandy soils, and whether your property is in a flood zone, as these affect system design and placement. Proximity to marshes or waterways can impact setback requirements. Seasonal storms may delay tank pumping or installation, and historic district guidelines could limit equipment access. Always plan ahead for local permit timelines and coordinate with utility providers.
