"American Electric identified the problem with my electrical that was missed by another contractor. In fact their evaluation prevented what could have been a disaster due to an electrical fire. I'm very grateful for their service."

"Very good. Change over to the LED was quickly done and very improved lighting. Reasonable price and very efficient. Because we were impressed with the work, we also had Destiny Electric install an exhaust fan in the master bathroom where none was present. Work crew arrived at appointed time and efficiently installed the new fan in very reasonable time and at reasonable price. We would have Destiny Electric handled any future electrical at our home."

"I called David Gray to replace a ceiling fan in the living room and install two motion censor lights on my front porch (both were already wired just need the fixtures swapped out). A little pricey, but I felt better having an electrician come out to do this work rather than a handyman especially since I wasn’t sure if the fan was going to work (the one that was previously there did not work -wasn’t sure if it was the fan or the wiring). Andrew did a good job and I would use David Gray again."

"Needed electric service run from the breaker panel in my house to a newly installed workshop in back of my house. They ran the service and installed a sub-panel, 6 outlets, 3 overhead junction boxes, and 2 junction boxes for outdoor lighting. They gave me a good quote and did the installation in 1 day. Arrived when they said they would and performed quality work. Very pleased with the installation. I would definitely hire these guys again."

"Pure Power (Vlad) installed a Tesla wall charger at my residence. Due to how my house is constructed it was a difficult installation. In the end, the installation was beautifully done. While Vlad was connecting the wiring for the charger to the panel he also corrected an improperly previously installed surge protector. The really great thing about Vlad, he does what he says he going to do. I would definitely use him again."

The color of your cable will help you to identify its function. In the U.S., the National Electrical Code (NEC) designates the color code for electrical cables. “Hot” cables are black, red, and blue. In cases of higher voltage lines, orange might also be used to indicate a hot cable. White or gray indicates a neutral, and green or green with a yellow stripe indicates a ground.

Circuit breakers can wear out, but it takes a long time. Circuit breakers typically last several decades if they don’t face problems like floods or frequent lightning storms. Worn-out circuit breakers may trip more frequently as time passes. However, they can also stop tripping altogether, which leads to electrical dangers. If your breakers have passed the 30-year mark, it’s time to consider an inspection.

Choosing between 12- or 14-gauge wire for your house depends on the electrical requirements of the circuit. A 12-gauge wire is thicker and can handle more power, making it better suited for devices such as kitchen appliances, air conditioning units, or electric heaters.

A 14-gauge wire is thinner and can handle less electrical current than a 12-gauge wire. It's ideal for circuits with lower power requirements, such as lighting or general-purpose outlets in bedrooms or living rooms.
