"The panel turned out great. They worked effortlessly to ensure that everything was done correct. My old panel was labeled wrong, so they were able to fix the labels so that I now have correct names for each breaker. He went around and reworked my outlets that were wired in correctly and even helped me program a universal remote to my fan. He was also able to help me replace my bathroom fan, all in one day. So yes, I would reconsider them and I hope you have as great as an experience as I did! Thank you!"

"Tyler installed recessed lighting and several other projects. I'm thoroughly satisfied with his work! He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in placing the lights where I needed them. It completely transformed the room and I couldn't be happier! I would gladly recommend him for any electrical work."

"Brandon is absolutely the best electrician I've used. He provided extensive repairs after a lightening strike, responded immediately to assess, made sure the electrical was safe, and was extremely timely in getting the products and repairs completed. I wouldn't call anyone else. I've had him back to install ceiling lights, and additional switches. Additionally, had him back to replace a water damaged light, replaced the light AND completed outside repairs to make sure it won't happen again."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

The direction you want your ceiling fan to move in depends on the season you’re in. During summer, you want it to move counterclockwise to produce a cooling downdraft. During winter, you want it to move clockwise to circulate warm air throughout the room.

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.

The square footage of your room will dictate the correct ceiling fan blade size. For example:

  • Rooms smaller than 75 square feet require a fan that is 29 to 36 inches.

  • Rooms up to 175 square feet require 42- to 48-inch fans.

  • Rooms up to 350 square feet require 52- to 56-inch fans.

  • Expansive spaces over 350 square feet need a fan larger than 60 inches.

If your home already has wires for a ceiling fan (and optional light kit), then it’s quite safe to wire and install it yourself. Always be very careful to shut off the power before you begin, and confirm that the power is safely off with a non-contact voltage tester before touching anything. It’s also highly recommended to use eye protection, rubberized gloves, and tools with rubber handles to keep yourself safe from electric shock.

If you’re replacing an old fixture with a ceiling fan, you usually won’t need a permit, but if your electrician runs new wiring for the fixture, you likely will need a permit. Building permits are necessary in most municipalities if you’re making changes to your electrical system, so even if you have partial wiring run to the area and need new wiring installed for added functionality, you’ll probably need a permit. Your electrician should be able to let you know if you need one, and they’ll typically file the paperwork for you.
