"Rob is EXCELLENT at his job. He is very professional and goes the extra mile for the customer. We are an elderly couple and the prospect of deciding on a fence company was difficult at first. But then we met Rob. He fully explained everything and even answered all of our questions WITHOUT making us feel silly. I am not very tech savvy so twice I deleted the contract when Rob sent it to us. Twice he fixed that quickly. I also wrote the check incorrectly , he handled that with ease. There did need to be a small correction regarding the post caps. Rob came to our house quickly and fixed it himself. We love the fence as do our neighbors!! Thank you Rob! This is the company you should use !!"

"I'm very satisfied with the work that was done, my fence looks beautiful, the gate is awesome. Due to COVID causing a supply issue it wasn't completed as contracted, but as soon as the supplies were at hand work started and completed as agreed upon. I would definitely hire this company again the owner was always on hand and his crew was magnificent very kind and caring men. If you need any type of barrier put up this is the team I would call. Thank you Joseph Matthews fencing"

"Accelerated Fence was fantastic to work with! Our old fence was in disrepair, and part of it finally fell over during Hurricane Ian. Gene and his team replaced around 150’ of wood fencing as well as our driveway gate. They also hauled away all the old material. We are so pleased with the look and quality of the new fence and gate. It is beautiful and built to last. Gene was also kind and courteous throughout the whole process. We would hire Accelerated Fence again in a heartbeat!"

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

Yes, most electric and automatic gates can be opened manually. They are equipped with a manual override or release mechanism that detaches the motor from the gate, allowing it to be moved by hand. This feature is essential during power outages or other emergencies.

To activate the manual override, you will typically need a specific key or tool. In some cases, you may also need a screwdriver to remove a cover to access the release mechanism. The use of a key is a common security measure to prevent unauthorized individuals from manually opening the gate.

Because every model is different, it is highly recommended to consult your gate's user manual to familiarize yourself with the specific procedure before you need to use it. Keep any necessary keys or tools in an accessible location. Be aware that automatic gates can be very heavy, so opening and closing them manually may be difficult.

In North America, electric gates are also subject to the UL 325 Standard for Safety, which includes provisions to allow emergency responders to access the property.

Yes, you can convert manual gates to electric operation. Installing a motor and an opening device from a kit allows you to convert any gate so it can open and close automatically. Be sure to buy the correct type of opener for your gate style. For example, some openers are specific to swinging gates, while others are for sliding gates. Get familiar with your swinging or sliding gate parts before you go shopping to avoid having to return to the store for the correct opener.

Wood, wrought iron, aluminum, and steel are common materials. Choose based on durability, aesthetics, and maintenance needs.

A security door costs an average of $1,400, but costs can range from $600 for a simple screen or steel door to more than $4,600 for a wrought-iron security door. You can also buy specialized locks separately for $200 to $600. If you decide to hire a pro to install your new security door, you’ll spend around $275 to $425 on labor costs.

The cost to install a gate varies widely, with a typical range between $1,500 and $7,000. The average cost is around $3,500. However, the final price can be as low as $200 for a simple gate or as high as $12,000 for a large, automated security gate.

Key factors that determine the installation cost include:

  • Gate Material: This is a primary cost factor. Chain-link and vinyl are the most affordable, while wood and PVC are mid-range options. Wrought iron, aluminum, and other metals are the most expensive materials.

  • Automation: Automated gates are significantly more expensive than manual ones because they require motors, sensors, controls, and electrical installation.

  • Size and Type: The dimensions and style of the gate (e.g., swinging vs. sliding) will impact the price.

  • Security Level: Gates with advanced security features will increase the overall cost.
