"Ruffino and crew were a dream. They do beautiful work and a reasonable cost. Ruffin was consistently giving me recommendations for better lass expensive ways of doing what I was asking. He was capable of doing everything I asked of him. His skills are wide-ranging. I will certainly have him back when I need additional handyman services."

"We had an idea and the owner, Bud, had a vision!!!! He created an absolutely beautiful outdoor living space.... multiple levels and entertainment areas. The space is gorgeous and every level of detail from the wood work to the design to the layout to the built in bar is just beautiful and functional! Bud provides a level of experience like no other. He is onsite and manages all his subcontractors and expects a superior product which is what he delivered."

"Renovating a house is not like renovating 1 room. Weslyn and the workers were responsive and respectful. This was our first big renovation. If I ever have to do it again, I will take more time in the planning phase actually graphically designing each room. We did this for the kitchen and bathrooms and it made the job much easier but it was a lot to get to that point. However, we had to be at the house every day to make sure work kept moving. I couldn't give 5s all around because there were times where we were expecting the subcontractors to do a job but that was not relayed to them properly/or vice versa back to us necessitating extra cost and time to get some parts of the project done. Efficiency was also somewhat lacking and a true Project Manager would greatly help Weslyn's process when it comes to bigger jobs."

"To Any One Who is Considering Stephen Gidley as a Contractor, Having been a contractor in an earlier part of my life, I am very particular about who I hire to work for me. Stephen was everything that I required of a contractor. He was knowledgeable about the materials needed, the legal documents required, the time that the roofing would take, and the expenses of the whole project. Stephen was prepared for the possible obstacles, with simple complete answers to all my questions. The foreman, his crew, and the specialists needed for particular aspects of the job all arrived on time. They were polite, descent workers who too"

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Costs depend on material, size, design complexity, and additional features like lighting or seating.

No, it’s not legal for unlicensed individuals to conduct structural calculations for buildings or building repairs. Not only do licensing requirements prevent DIYers from tackling this project, but mistakes can also be extremely dangerous and put your property and anyone inside or near it at risk of severe injury or even death. You should always hire a licensed and certified local structural engineer to make structural calculations.

It is technically possible to draw your own blueprints, but the process is extremely involved and really demands help from an expert. A professional architect has an understanding of design elements, interior design, the functionality of different rooms in a home, and how everything from furniture, outlets, and light switches should be laid out to serve you and your family best. Hiring an architect for blueprints can get expensive, but it’s the most responsible way to begin a new construction project. If you’re keen on DIYing, you could consider starting the process and then having a professional take over.

Framing is often the most expensive phase of building a house because it’s time-consuming and requires a lot of materials. It costs between $20,000 and $50,000 on average, depending on materials and labor costs. Before construction begins, it’s possible that purchasing land is the priciest step in the process. Some plots of land sell for $3,000, while others cost upwards of $150,000.

If your project is complex, it may make sense to hire an architect to draw plans. An architect might also be a good person to hire if you want to ensure your plans adhere to building codes and regulations.
