Reviews of Subcontractors Near You
The biggest issue was the communication related to subcontractors. It was not stipulated well in the contract.

CGI Home Solution LLC
First appointment they didn't show. Second appointment they sent a representative woman who was not going to do the work but evaluated the extent of services needed and was supposed to get back to me with a site visit but never called.

Murphy Family Electric
All went well very professional and helpful. The person that was sent was a subcontractor a take it but Juan was very good and did a great job.

KITCHEN & BATH FACTORY INC
Most of the interaction was with the subcontractor. Kand B Factory staff was very easy to work with and very professional.

The initial appointment went well; however, the contractor ended up being dishonest and extremely aggressive and rude. AHS is a home warranty program that charges an initial service fee for a contractor to come to the house to fix common maintenance problems. The issue was a leaky pipe underneath the bathroom sink probably due to a rusted ring. The contractor assessed the problem and reported to AHS that the ring needed to be replaced and that the stopper mechanism was loose and needed to be replaced. They also reported to AHS that a piece was missing from the stopper mechanism (which wasn't missing at all). Due to the missing piece, AHS said they would only cover the leaky drain. The contractor called a week after the initial appointment to reschedule the maintenance. As with most, I had to take off the entire afternoon from work for this appointment because they could not give me an exact time that they would arrive. I contacted the contractor at around 5:30 and he said that the only way that they would come was if I paid them an additional $250.00 to replace the stopper mechanism while they were fixing the leaky pipe. I told them that i preferred not to have the stopper mechanism fixed because a) it wasn't broken and b) it had nothing to do with the leaky pipe. It really goes south from here. The contractor started yelling at me over the phone using foul expletives to explain how he felt about my opinion about the stopper mechanism and further stated that if i wanted any service at all, I'd have to pay him $250.00 additional. I was a bit shocked (even though I'm used to rough contractors in Washington, DC and hung up the phone). This is the worst experience I've ever had with a contractor. First they try to hold my sink ransom for extra money then they tried to aggressively try to get extra money through some sort of fear tactic. I would not consider using this contractor again. My only advice is beware and look somewhere else

Good folks, skilled and friendly, but need a lot of reminding. Subcontractors who took down and replaced ceiling also good.

TriState Home Services
Some of the work was initially installed incorrectly. When the supervisor came out, I could tell that he was mortified and immediately swung in to action to get things rectified. In a day when many refuse to be accountable for their work, I was incredibly impressed with the humility and honesty with which the company worked to solve the problem. It was such a contrast to several other contractors. Thus, I hired them to perform additional work for us personally, including re-piping our house (the walls were already torn open) and installing a new hot water heater

Marines Service Co.
No complaints, prompt, polite and left the area clean. Definitely would recommend them. No subcontractors, they did the job themselves (I appreciate that a lot!).

Dj Floors LLC
We just completed a kitchen renovation through Home Depot in Falls Church. We worked with the HD designer, Mary Beth, who helped us choose the cabinets and designed the floor plan. The installation was done by Counter Intelligence with the assistance of DJ Floors. It involved demolition, new flooring for the entire first floor of the house, plumbing relocation, electrical relocation and upgrades, tile, cabinetry installation, re-location and installation of appliances, countertops, venting and installation of a range hood. Any kitchen renovation is extremely disruptive. However, now that the job is complete, we are extremely happy that we took on this project and that we used the Home Depot team with Counter Intelligence to complete it. The initial measurements and labor proposal was done by Joe Zouine from Counter Intelligence. This is by far the most important step in the project. He was extremely careful, and he made excellent suggestions for solutions to some of the problems that we had with our existing kitchen. The result was that everything fit nicely as planned and there were no surprises with unexpected costs. ? In other words, his measurements and cost estimate were right-on-target accurate. George Carrillo was our site manager. He was professional, personable, skilled in all aspects of the project, and an excellent communicator. We always knew the status of our project and what to expect next. We had a drop-dead deadline, which we communicated to George on the first day. Part of the time, my husband and I were out of the country. George made sure everything progressed and kept us updated while we were away. He even brought in our mail while we were gone. Our deadline was met, and we signed off on the project with no unsolved problems or issues. Basically, we were very satisfied with the design, with the quality of the materials, with the estimates and with the work that was done. Everything was left as clean and neat as possible at the end of the day. We had the same experts in our home from the beginning to the end. Each skilled professional who worked on the project was gracious, experienced, punctual, and a true craftsman who is proud of his work. What also impressed us immensely was the management style we observed. George from CI and DJ from DJ Floors managed the schedules and the work plans of everyone who worked on the project. They both treated the workers with great respect, with patience and with professionalism. Thus the energy in our home during the project was focused, collegial and positive. It definitely helped us get through the disruption and added to the enjoyment of an exceptional finished product

Valencia Home Improvement
He is a person who is a builder. He built his own home. He does anything and everything. He has subcontractors that will work for him. He is on the high end and is excellent.

Phoenix Home Services Inc
We hired Phoenix to renovate our kitchen and dining room which involved knocking down a wall, rerouting plumbing, electrical, and gas, and changing the height of the ceiling in some places. Phoenix finished the job quickly and communicated with us the whole time so we would know what to expect during the project. They were always responsive to our questions and handled a few surprises along the way. The crew did great work in our house and Phoenix works with great subcontractors for cabinets, tile, and counters. The relationship between Phoenix and their subcontractors meant that we just needed to pick what we wanted and they coordinated the rest. Overall a great experience

Thorough work, but very expensive. Also, the company apparently had introduced a charge to service DC, which they said they waived for me.

Nautilus Builders Inc
Bob was on site every day, consulting with his subcontractors to insure everything went as planned. Morale was high. His employees and subcontractors enjoyed working for him.and we liked working with him too. No detail was too small for his attention and as construction proceeded Bob resolved our every whim and question. We have never known anyone who takes as much pleasure as Bob in pleasing his clients. Finally I must mention that now, two years plus after completion, Bob drops by regularly to be sure all construction and installations are sound and working smoothly. In short Bob was even better than his motto - "excellence - on time - on budget"

ROBINSON PLUMBING & HVAC
They were hired as a subcontractor through another company. Their communication was poor. They were not professional. One of the workers was knowledgeable. Their workers did not work well together as a team. They all seemed to be on a different page.
- David W.
Brent Construction & Renovations
Brent Construction made useful suggestions and worked with us at every turn. The electricians installed the new lighting (tray ceiling and under-cabinet lighting) and new sockets. Once the chain store did the refacing of the cabinets, they had a plumber ready to complete work on the sink, a gas contractor to check the stove. Then we had an excellent firm install tile that we had purchased. A subcontractor did the wallpapering and Brent Construction did painting and finishing as needed. Finally, a subcontractor put in a new hardwood floor. The sequencing and interactions with Brent Construction was excellent
- Cathey P.
Everything went great. David was thorough and professional, and listened to what we needed before starting the work. His work was stellar. He kept the space tidy and ready for the other subcontractors to come through behind him. Aces all around.

Lofft Construction Inc
We contracted Lofft Constructions to do a gut and remodel of my entire home, and build out the basement into an entire apartment. Positives: - Cheapest offer we received from five companies. - Overall decent quality. - Stayed within budget. Negatives: - Company boss hard to reach / sometimes not available for weeks. - Many conflicts between boss and subcontractors, as other reviewers have suggested. - Offensive messages from company after work was done. Conflict with subcontractors seems to spill into relationship with client
- Georg C.
Condon Reed Inc
I would highly recommend them. I have used them since 1980 on several houses and several systems. They really are the best. I was working for an architectural firm and I asked our HVAC subcontractor who they would recommend and they recommended Condon Reed.
- Tom M.
KCI General Contractors Inc
KCI was extremely professional and easy to work with. KCI and their subcontractors kept us informed throughout the project. While there were schedule and cost changes, KCI gave us advance notice and options, rather than surprising us at the last moment.
- Richmond S.
Scott Riggs Construction
The majority of the job was accomplished in a timely manner, but some parts took longer than were forecast. The quality of the work was good and Scott was a good general contractor. His painting subcontractor isn't as good as his construction subs, however. Overall I'm pleased with the work and would recommend his services and use them again
