"Martin and his team were a joy to work with on our new kitchen counters. Martin walked us through choosing our stone and explained the fabrication process and within days we are now sitting at our new counters enjoying our morning coffee. Check out the attached pictures. Great overall experience 10 stars! Thanks again Martin and Jose!!"

"We recently upgraded our pantry and our redesign included a small coffee bar area and we needed to find someone to fabricate and install a small countertop in that space. Christian Brothers Restoration LLC responded quickly to get more details and provide an initial estimate. They picked up the remnant slab and came to our home to measure and get final details on what part of the remnant we wanted to use. The slab was fabricated beautifully, fit perfectly, and the installation was flawless. This family-run business is friendly and efficient and knows countertops very well. I would definitely use them again for countertop or even restoration work if we ever needed it."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

The resin should be periodically sealed to help prevent it from wearing down or becoming porous. Very sharp or very hot objects can damage the resin surface, and there’s no way to fully repair it if that happens, so we recommend treating the counters well.

Installing granite kitchen countertops costs about $3,250, ranging from $2,000 to $4,000, depending on the quantity and quality of the granite, use of granite tile or granite slabs, the type of granite, and its color and texture. Varieties of granite include:

  • Alaska white: $35 per square foot

  • Ubatuba: $30–$60 per square foot

  • Silver cloud: $35–$40 per square foot

  • Absolute black: $45–$60 per square foot

  • Black galaxy: $50–$70 per square foot

  • Blue Louise: $70–$100 per square foot

  • Crema Bordeaux: $80 per square foot

  • Solarius: $60 per square foot

The best type of wood for countertops is hardwood. Hardwood is much more durable and resilient than softwood, so it won’t scratch or dent as easily. Oak, cherry, maple, walnut, and teak are all popular options that are relatively common in North America. Some homeowners prefer to use pine or cedar, but make sure to seal your countertop to help prevent damage. Yellow pine fares better than white pine.

Concrete countertops require regular upkeep and can be harder to maintain than other materials. For daily cleaning, use a mild, pH-neutral cleaner and avoid harsh, acidic products that can damage the sealant. It's important to wipe up spills immediately, especially from acidic substances, as concrete stains easily. To prevent scratches, always use a cutting board. The countertops must be resealed periodically—at least once a year—to protect them from stains and moisture. Be aware that concrete is also prone to cracking over time and may require repairs.

Choosing the right countertop material means balancing price, quality, and budget. However, there are a few popular high-end choices when it comes to countertops that many homeowners use to elevate their bathroom aesthetic:
