"I was able to locate a small piece of quartz for my project but it needed one length cut and two edges finished, then installed. I inquired a number of companies. Christian Brothers made a reasonable offer and could pick up the quartz the next day, finish it and install a day later. The company is family run and the two sons did the install... polite and quick and cleaned up. Very satisfied with the company and will be recommending them to my other HOA homeowners."

"The first individual I hired to remodel my kitchen, both bathrooms and install plank tile in my entire house took $25,000 of my money and everything he touched had to be fixed. I had no shower, tub or kitchen when I moved back into my house. Veny came to my rescue. The first thing he did was finish a shower so I didn't have to use the hose in the back yard. He then repaired all the cabinets in my kitchen and installed my granite. I now have a kitchen! He redid the work in my master bathroom and everybody raves about it. Veny designed my shower in the master bedroom. It is a large walk-in shower. The tile work is beautiful. The glass wall is perfect. They cleaned up after themselves every day. I gave them a key to the house and did not have to worry about a thing. They even dealt with my dog while I was at work. They have a wonderful selection of products at their store and are very reasonable. I have recommended AZ Granite to a number of people at work and my friends. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to work with honest, caring and skilled people."

"Steven was super helpful and kind throughout the whole process. Tim performed incredible handiwork. You wouldn't even know there was ever damage to the wall in the first place. Most importantly though, I felt that I could trust them in my home and with future work 100%. They are honest about their work and their pricing. I would definitely refer them to anyone and will use them in the future if the need/opportunity arises. Thank you all so much for the wonderful, seamless, and kind experience from the bottom of my heart."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Updating your backsplash without removing the tile is possible in a couple of different ways. First, you can remove the old grout and replace it with new grout to give your backsplash a fresh look. You can also change the grout color, which can have a surprisingly large impact on the final appearance of the backsplash. Finally, you can paint the original tile to totally change the look of the backsplash without removing it.

Flooring transition strips can be secured to the subfloor using glue, nails, or screws. For a more secure installation, especially in high-traffic areas, using screws or nails is recommended as it reduces the risk of slippage. However, if aesthetic appeal is a priority, glue provides a cleaner, more seamless finish without any visible holes or screw heads.

When choosing tiles for a shower floor, avoid highly porous tile materials, like those with a water absorption rating over 7%. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.

Tile shouldn’t be set tight against the tub. Bathtubs can expand when filled, and they can shift slightly with the weight of occupants. For this reason, it’s important to leave a slight gap between the bathtub and the first row of tile. Aim for a narrow gap of approximately 1/16 of an inch, filled with caulk, to allow for this expansion and movement while still allowing for tile shower waterproofing.

Yes, you can install a backsplash directly onto drywall, provided the wall is properly prepped, clean, and dry. For best results, especially in kitchen areas, your walls should be made of moisture-resistant drywall, often called green board. If your current wall isn't moisture-resistant, it's recommended to replace it before installing the backsplash. For even greater protection against water damage, you can remove the existing drywall and install a tile backer board or cement board instead. While properly installed standard drywall is typically strong enough to support a backsplash, some local building codes may require water-resistant materials in kitchen areas, so it's a good idea to check.
