I had a vague vision of what I wanted and Matthew from Rainier Ridge made it a reality. I have nothing bad to say about the outcome or the overall experience. I cant go outside now without everyone who passes telling me how amazing it looks. About a year ago I contacted a few contractors for just the deck and it was almost the same price for all of this. My father was a construction foreman with the Seattle Union most of his life so of course he had to check out the work after and he said the work was amazing. Matt also knew I didn't know much about construction but made sure I was always in the loop and understood what they were doing and why. If there was a change or recommendation he would ask and detail the extra charges if I wanted to but never pressured me. New projects like this can be so intimidating but it honestly couldn't have gone any better or easier. "

"Modernized Exteriors seem to have built a decent deck for a decent price but in a somewhat sloppy and dishonest way. First, they left hundreds of pieces of debris including over 100 nails, screws, and other fasteners, and hundreds of pieces of the old deck lying around, including some pieces over six feet long, many with embedded nails sticking out. For months, nearly every time my daughters went out to play they came back with a handful of nails and screws. Second, the old deck had a notch through which the gutter downspout passed to reach the drain in the ground. Instead of cutting a notch for the downspout, they just tossed it behind a bush allowing the gutter to empty directly onto the deck. They promised a 12-month warranty, saying they'd come out to correct any defects. When I mentioned the disconnected gutter they initially said they'd fix it, but then ignored my follow-up messages when I asked them to actually do it. So they may not honor their promises."

They were flexible with start dates and began the project on the date I asked, and sent me progress pictures along the way.
