"Very impressed with the level of service and work done by Altaview. Had 5 trees trimmed and brought the canopy up as well as removing 2 trees. Very efficient, priced well, and cleaned up the property after finishing. Would recommend them to others ansld will call on them again when additional tree work is needed."

"Jasper came out and looked at all our trees shrubs that needed to be pruned or removed. He then gave us an estimate and we picked out a future date for them to come. His crew was awesome. They came on time. They cleaned up after themselves and they were very nice people! I highly recommend this company, keep up the good work Jasper and crew"

"Last November we hired Steve and his crew from Steveâ s Home services to do a complete remodel of our main living areas of our home. This included the bathroom, 2nd bathroom, kitchen, family and living room. They installed new wood floors in a lot of areas, tile floor in bathroom, tile inlay in entry, and a pony wall by front entry. Two main walls were removed between the family and living areas. A full kitchen tear out and everything new was installed including the cabinets. They are a wonderful personable group of hard working contractors to work with. Their work is top quality! We had them in our home for about 5 weeks. We didnâ t have to move out because they cleaned up everyday and protected our furniture with coverings. We will hire them again for phase 2 to remodel our master bathroom."

"This is a 5-star organization. It was a pleasure to find, with help from Angi starting with vicki that answers the phone, so nice. Brian Chandler is so professional, informative and personable, just the right person to explain exactly what and how they would do the job. they came up with a date that was perfect, no long wait. Reasonable pricing! The crew headed up by Zachary, were outstanding, the climbers, all of them. The cleanup was immaculate, unbelievable really. So very happy to have tree service that I can call when I need."

"Dan from Champion Tree Care came out on a Saturday to make an estimate, and since the job was not an emergency, later set a date in late November to do the work. The price was very reasonable, compared to other tree companies we have used. Although the Tuesday they arrived was very rainy, the three guys took about 3 hours to do the work. They cleaned up the area very well, and also cleaned up a couple piles of branches that I had previously trimmed from some other trees. They cut the logs into 16-inch sections, moved them off the back lawn, and piled them by our woodshed in the back yard. The total price with tax came to about $1500. They even correctly calculated the tax for Snohomish county, which few other service companies do -- we live just across the line from King county. We are relieved that the trees no longer pose a hazard to our home, are very pleased with Champion Tree Care, and appreciate that they did the job even in bad weather."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Pruning trees during the summer can be a bad idea because the new growth will take place during the hottest months of the year, which can stress your tree out. Similarly, pruning during the early fall can be a bad idea, too, because you’d be stimulating new growth when most trees are aiming to go dormant.

Pruning recommendations will vary by the type of tree, but generally, waiting until winter to prune your trees is a good idea.

Professionals use assessments, strategic cuts, specialized equipment, and safety measures to ensure healthy growth or the safe removal of trees or shrubs.

If you’re planning on keeping the tree, unless the roots are invasive, there’s no need to remove them, as doing so can cause damage to the tree. If the tree has been cut down and the stump and roots are left, grinding and removing the stump can cause root decay for some species. For other species, the stump and roots will need to be removed to prevent pests, disease, and possible tree regrowth.

The ideal depth of a tree notch depends on the tree, but it should usually be between 20% and 25% of the tree’s depth. However, if the tree is leaning towards the direction of the notch, it can be cut more shallowly—at as little as 10% of the depth. When the tree is leaning away from the direction it needs to be felled, you can cut deeper, closer to 30%.

No, homeowners insurance typically does not cover the cost of removing a dead, sick, or rotting tree that is still standing. Insurance is designed to protect against sudden and unexpected accidents, whereas a tree dying or rotting over time is considered a maintenance issue. Coverage usually only applies after a tree has fallen and caused damage to your property.
