"Perfectly. Best price by a small amount, but their professionalism, honesty, and clarity of explanation was best among the 5 Angie's List certified vendors that I had come out to give a quote. Very pleased with my choice. My experience with a smaller family-owned and operated business in the HVAC world has been consistently better than the bigger companies."

"Allred is THE best. I had mini-split AC/heat installed almost a year ago. I love it and it's saving me significant money over using my central heating system. And no more hassle with portable air conditioners. I should have done this years ago. Even better is the 5 star customer service. Last week I had difficulty turning on the AC for the first time since last summer. I urgently called David on a Sunday. He immediately dove in to get me scheduled. Sebastian called me before making an on-site visit. Patiently walked me through a simple troubleshoot and shazaam! I turned right on. A+++ to both of them."

"While it took a couple weeks to have them come out and evaluate our situation once the process started it went very quickly.
They showed up at the planned appointment time. Then they went through the sales pitch. We need to have a the new furnace installed by the end of the week as it was getting too cold in our house. They were able to install the next day in spite of having to juggle two installations on that day.

"Pacific air systems called me to say that technician was running a little ahead of schedule so he was able to arrive earlier thsn the designated time which was fine.  He spent much time thoroughly cleaning my furnace while explaining what he was doing.  As my furnace has lasted beyond the life expectation, he explained to me what to consider when it comes time to replace my furnace. Brian Pelkey, the technician on this service call, was very professional and efficient.  I have used Pacific air sytems to service my furnace for 21 years.  I have no complaints...only compliments. I will continue to use them in the future.

"Received 4 quotes. Cummings was the least expensive that I used to bargain two others to. They matched but had install dates of 30 days. Cummings had their electricians and HVAC guys here in 8 days. Installation done in 4 hours. All had good customer service & tech skills."

Small jobs welcome

"They worked with me to determine a very reasonable solution to a difficult water / heating problem I had in my crawlspace. They replaced all the flex heating ducts and insulated all of the rigid ductwork making routing updates to help ensure they all stayed dry in the future. Their estimate was fair and accurate, they completed the work on time and the quality of the work was excellent. All of the workers were very professional and respectful and they ensured that I was completely satisfied at the end."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

AC drip pans last five to 20 years, depending on the material. Plastic AC drip pans last five to 10 years, while metal pans can last over 10 years. Plastic AC drip pans are vulnerable to cracking in response to temperature changes. Metal drip pans are prone to rusting over time, which can also lead to leaks.

An HVAC unit, like a furnace, air conditioner, or heat pump, produces warm or hot air. The air ducts serve as the passages to help heat or cool air from the HVAC unit flow through the home. Air ducts are just one part of the overall HVAC system.

Deciding whether to replace just the AC coil or the entire system depends on the age of your unit and the overall cost. Replacing a coil is less expensive than a full system replacement, but it can still be a pricey repair. If your HVAC system is relatively new and still under warranty, or if the replacement cost is significantly lower than a new system, replacing the coil can be a worthwhile investment that restores efficiency and extends the unit's life. However, for older systems (nearing the end of their 10-15 year lifespan) or those with extensive damage, it is often more cost-effective to replace the entire AC unit. Mismatched coils in an older system can lead to inefficiency and future breakdowns, so a full replacement ensures optimal performance and avoids further costly repairs.

Ideally, an AC system should never need more Freon (a popular refrigerant) because it circulates in a closed loop. However, refrigerant leaks are not uncommon and may occur gradually over 5 to 15 years. If your system has a leak, it will need to be topped up in a process known as an AC recharge. Signs of a refrigerant leak include weakened AC performance, increased humidity in your home, higher utility bills, and a hissing sound from the unit. The cost of an AC recharge will depend on the size and type of your AC unit, as well as the type of refrigerant it uses.

While 72 degrees is a comfortable setting for many people, it’s likely not the most efficient temperature setting for your air conditioning unit. By pushing the temperature up to 75 or 78 degrees, you stand to save money on your energy bill. That said, these temperatures may be too warm to be comfortable for some people and are definitely too warm for most people to sleep comfortably.
