"It went great! I've used G&S Heating in the past to replace a dead heat pump and furnace and they did a fantastic job; well now it was time to upgrade from our electric hot water heater to a new hybrid (heat pump) hot water heater; the tech showed up time, was clean and professional, explained what he was doing and the options I had, installed the new tank system, cleaned up after himself and then explained the operation and maintenance requirements; I will use them again for sure!

"Jason with NW Bathworks was great to work with. He was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable with a friendly and professional attitude. He was easy to ask questions of while he remained steady in the work flow and conduct of himself and the crew. They installed 2 new water heaters for us as well as fixed a shower leak, dealt with a problematic toilet and some faucets and advised me on his observations of our old water softener system. His diagnosis was spot on as I confirmed it with a local Well expert. Thanks a million to Jason and his team."

"Perms-Dry did an outstanding job. They explained the work to be done in detail, arrived on time, completed the work in one day. Their workers professional and did a great job of cleaning up once the work was complete. I have seen no signs of water issues since they installed the system"

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

Softened water prevents scale deposits, reducing appliance wear, leading to energy savings and longer-lasting household fixtures.

No, a water descaler won't descale pipes. The charged water running through the pipes may very slowly dissolve mineral deposits and hold them inside the water, but it's a very gradual process. If your pipes do need descaling, it's much better to get a local plumber to descale your pipes.

A single shower consumes an average of over 17 gallons, while brushing your teeth with the water running uses up to four unnecessary gallons. Watering the lawn spreads hundreds of gallons of water across the yard each time. Limiting water usage in these areas can significantly cut down your water bill.

Most experts agree there’s not much difference health-wise between hard water versus soft water. That said, hard water is more likely to cause skin dryness and issues that go along with it, like an itchy or flaky scalp. Hard water can also decrease the life span of your household appliances and make it more difficult for soap to do its job.

The primary difference between a water softener and a water filter lies in what they remove from the water. A water softener is designed to remove hard minerals like calcium and magnesium. In contrast, a water filter has a broader effect, removing various contaminants above a certain size, which can include bacteria and other impurities.

To decide which you need, consider your goal. If you want to eliminate hard minerals, choose a softener. If you want to remove a wide range of contaminants, a filter is the better option. Filters are also generally less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply, you may need to install both for comprehensive treatment.
