"The plumber, Diego, arrived when expected and did a very good job installing the new gas water heater. Good work but cost of almost $1,900 seemed high to replace a gas water heater in the garage of a 9 year old home where the existing water heater plumbing was only 9 years old.."

"

My latest service with G&S electrical was associated with a bi-annual maintenance plan that I have set up.  I love the plan, because it gives me peace of mind that my heating/cooling system will remain reliable.  The service person arrived right on time and called in advance to let me know he was coming.  He did his work quickly and efficiently.  Afterward, he briefed my on what he did, and what his observations were about my furnace.  He also mentioned some options for filtration.  I appreciated hearing the options, and told him I wanted to think about it.  He was very courteous with the response.  Now that I have had time to think about it, I have decided to pursue a more enhanced filtration option.  No pressure, just facts and data, and superb attention to detail.  When he was done, the service man cleaned everything up and went in his way.  Just superb!

I also have had my water heater replaced under emergency circumstance, and G&S responded within 24 hrs, and the installer did a superb job with that as well.  I had an electrical box and conduit reworked to support my hot tub.  The prior installation by another electrician was very poor.  G&S redid it all for a very reasonable price, and the work was so obviously superior.   Bottom line, is that I trust G&S.  They do what they say they will do, they do it with professionally, and with a pleasant delivery.  The pricing is very reasonable, given the high level of service, quality work and responsiveness.

I have used G & S heating, cooling, electric for several years now, and they consistently do an amazing job.  Although I have had different service people come do work, they are all equally professional!  They always tell me what they are doing, and what the outcome is.  I always like hearing about potential risks and options as well, but never any kind of pressure, just honest communication.

It is one of the few businesses that I feel like I have a relationship with.  I'd recommend G&S for anyone.

"NW Bathworks replaced a 17 year old water heater with a tankless water heater 2 weeks after requesting service. I was thankful for that fast turn around considering service demand is rather high. Before he left the job, he kindly tutored me on how to flush the unit myself and instructed me on the warranty. For the price and quality of service, highly recommended"

"Perms-Dry did an outstanding job. They explained the work to be done in detail, arrived on time, completed the work in one day. Their workers professional and did a great job of cleaning up once the work was complete. I have seen no signs of water issues since they installed the system"

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

To get utilities set up on a property, you first have to contact the local department of planning to determine whether your property is able to connect to public utilities. From there, you can work with a structural engineer and/or a building contractor to design the layout of utility lines on the property. The pros will need this information as they begin securing building permits before they can start adding lines.

If your property isn’t able to connect to public utilities, you’ll need to consider working with pros to develop a comfortable off-grid home that will meet your needs.

The primary difference between a water softener and a water filter lies in what they remove from the water. A water softener is designed to remove hard minerals like calcium and magnesium. In contrast, a water filter has a broader effect, removing various contaminants above a certain size, which can include bacteria and other impurities.

To decide which you need, consider your goal. If you want to eliminate hard minerals, choose a softener. If you want to remove a wide range of contaminants, a filter is the better option. Filters are also generally less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply, you may need to install both for comprehensive treatment.

A tankless water heater should be at least 10 feet away from a water softener, although the pros you hire for water softener installation can help you determine the correct distance. These two units need to have some distance between them to prevent hot water from the tankless water heater from flowing backward into the water softener when it runs a regeneration cycle.

The most accurate way to determine whether you have hard water is to purchase a water test kit from a hardware store or send a tap water sample to a lab. But there are some signs you can look out for without professional testing. For instance, if you're consistently dealing with mineral stains on your glassware, windows, and shower doors, you're likely to have hard water. Hard water can also make it harder to lather and rinse soap, so if you're struggling to work up a good lather in the shower, hard water might be the culprit.

It’s unlikely that hard water on its own could cause substantial hair loss or damage, though it’s true that bathing in hard water can cause your scalp to feel itchy or flaky and might dull your hair’s natural shine. Using high-quality shampoo and conditioner or buying a whole-home water softener can decrease these issues.
