"The crew showed up on time with all of the right equipment and worked together to take down two trees, chip all of the branches and section up the logs... for the quoted price. No foul mouthed workers, no sketchy tactics or tools no damage to anything and no $$ games. True professionals. Wow. I would hire them again and I think you should too."

"I hired Steve initially for a tree assessment. He was clearly knowledgeable, and very professional, so I also hired Steve to remove some trees, and to help select and plant a new one. I extended the job to include some landscaping in my front yard, and I am very happy with the work they did. He communicated clearly, was punctual, and was very easy to work with."

"I highly recommend Suave and Sons Tree Work for anyone in need of tree services. They did an excellent job removing a large, difficult tree that was located VERY close to our house. The process was smooth and efficient, and the crew was clean and professional. The owner, Joel, was a pleasure to work with. He was easy to contact and was onsite working along the guys during the job. All of the guys were also very friendly and respectful. Overall, we had a great experience with this company and would not hesitate to use them again in the future."

"I had a few pros come out and really enjoyed the conversation with Zach (Owner). He laid out exactly the timeline and dump cost. He was able to squeeze my project in the next Friday/Saturday. His brother came out with one additional guy and completed almost the entire project in half the time (they charge by the hour and work quick). I asked them to come back the next day and added additional work based on their recommendations. Due to their hard work and complete transparency. I will be hiring them for two additional projects on my property I hope to have completed as soon as I get the permit. I highly recommend Dirt Raptor for any land clearing or tree removal services."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

An arborist specializes in tree care, performing tasks such as pruning, treating diseases, and removing hazardous trees. They also assess soil conditions, plant trees, and develop landscaping plans to ensure healthy growth. They also manage debris cleanup, inspect equipment, and record maintenance activities. Arborists often collaborate with landscapers and professional tree maintenance services, applying their specialized knowledge and problem-solving skills to maintain tree health and safety.

The best tools for tree removal include a chainsaw for large trees, an ax for notching and cutting down small trees, and a wedge to help control the direction a tree falls in. A hatchet can be useful for very small trees, but won’t be effective for medium to large trees.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

Costs reflect the size of the tree or shrub, the complexity of the task, location accessibility, and disposal needs, and comprehensive quotes vary accordingly.

You should not trim an oak tree in the summer. Oak trees are especially susceptible to disease, and open tree wounds are an invitation for beetles that carry tree-killing fungus. If there’s no risk that the oak tree will do damage to your property or hurt someone, it’s best to save the trimming for fall or winter. If you can, seal the wound with latex to prevent fungus from getting inside.
