GS Heating replaced my furnace with a Lennox energy efficient system.  With the exception of the install techs not showing up when they were supposed to, the work was done well and went off without a hitch.

Additionally, I had a cracked cooling pan in my a/c unit which the installation tech (Ryan) inspected to let me know if I would need to replace the entire a/c or just the cooling pan.  He found out that they would be able to obtain a cooling pan from the manufacturer to replace just the pan and that I wouldn't need to replace the entire a/c unit.  He decided at the time to calk the two areas where the unit was leaking in the garage and asked me to wait until summer time to see if that fixed the issue or not.  Summer is here and I noticed that his solution didn't work so I called the office to have them come out to replace the cooling pan.  At this point, the office manager/receptionist (Diane) indicated that Ryan had not put anything into their system as a note and that she would have to charge me for a tech to come out to do an evaluation.  I told her what Ryan had shared with me but she said, "Well, there are no notes in the system, so we have to charge you to do an assessment of the system."  What's unfortunate is that I had a great experience with them for the installation of the furnace but now I feel like they don't care that I'm a potential repeat customer.  She told me that since I opted to not have the a/c fixed in the winter (which Ryan told me to wait until summer to see if the calking of the leak might fix the issue) I have to pay for another tech to come out an confirm what Ryan told me they could do - replace the cooling pan.

She went on to say that since it's summer they've got a lot of people who need/want installs and essentially the gist of what I was getting from her was, "we don't really need to do anything to win your business again". I guess when it's winter time, I'd get better customer service for the a/c than now in the summer????  I'm disappointed to say the least. I don't want to pay what I consider a redundant fee for what has already been diagnosed needs to be done. The owner, who I spoke with back in November was the main reason I went with GS Heating because he was upfront and seemed truly interested in winning my business.

I called Diane back and asked her to have the owner call me to see if he's able to resolve this situation.  Since the install tech didn't put notes in their system about my a/c issue back in November, I feel I'm having to pay for someone to come out and re-diagnose what he found in November.  My rational for giving GS Heating a C on Professionalism and indicating that I wouldn't use them in the future is due to a lack of follow through and attention to detail by the tech in entering notes into their system about the potential business they could have in replacing my cooling pan.

"Perms-Dry did an outstanding job. They explained the work to be done in detail, arrived on time, completed the work in one day. Their workers professional and did a great job of cleaning up once the work was complete. I have seen no signs of water issues since they installed the system"

"Great Service!!! I had a clog in my main sewer line. Called around 7am and was able to schedule an estimate same day. Got a call back from Andrew and was able to have them come in sooner, which was awesome! Plumbers David & Chris was courteous, friendly and professional. They were able to fix my issue swiftly and jet the roots out as well. I love the fact that they made sure that everything was working correctly before leaving, to ensure the issue has been resolved. They even ran a camera down my sewer line to insure me all the roots were gone, got a video as well. I had the same issue previously and called another company. I had to call them twice because they did not resolve the issue on both times out here. Hagee Plumbing fixed it.

Water Softeners questions, answered by experts

A tankless water heater should be at least 10 feet away from a water softener, although the pros you hire for water softener installation can help you determine the correct distance. These two units need to have some distance between them to prevent hot water from the tankless water heater from flowing backward into the water softener when it runs a regeneration cycle.

The primary difference between a water softener and a water filter lies in what they remove from the water. A water softener is designed to remove hard minerals like calcium and magnesium. In contrast, a water filter has a broader effect, removing various contaminants above a certain size, which can include bacteria and other impurities.

To decide which you need, consider your goal. If you want to eliminate hard minerals, choose a softener. If you want to remove a wide range of contaminants, a filter is the better option. Filters are also generally less expensive to install. Depending on your water supply, you may need to install both for comprehensive treatment.

A lower-end water softener would cost around $900, not including installation. Each home has different requirements, water hardness, and number of inhabitants, so there’s a huge range in pricing—$600 to over $6,000. The average water softener repair bill is around $500, meaning it’s a much better option to repair any issues and only replace your softener if absolutely necessary.

To get utilities set up on a property, you first have to contact the local department of planning to determine whether your property is able to connect to public utilities. From there, you can work with a structural engineer and/or a building contractor to design the layout of utility lines on the property. The pros will need this information as they begin securing building permits before they can start adding lines.

If your property isn’t able to connect to public utilities, you’ll need to consider working with pros to develop a comfortable off-grid home that will meet your needs.

Hard water stains can be a headache because they will reoccur as long as hard water flows through. Thankfully, hard water stains are not permanent. With the right tools and an appropriate cleaning routine, you can prevent hard water stains from ever building up. However, you might feel like you are stuck in a constant cleaning cycle. In that case, you may consider hiring a contractor to perform routine cleaning.
