"James and Tammy were absolutely wonderful. They were so detail oriented, clean, punctual, and did a wonderful job. I had my kitchen backsplash redone as well as tile floor done in a bathroom. They also installed my new vanity and toilet. I am so pleased with the outcome. A superb job. I would recommend Patriot Flooring to everyone!"

"The installers were prompt and knowledgeable about the project (converting an old tub & tile shower to a new glass-door unit). They kept us apprised of progress as they went and the condition of our wall space. They (Brian and Lamar) were very personable and cleaned up after the project was completed (in a difficult, small area of the house). This was a very positive experience for us. Would gladly rehire them for other projects."

"After receiving several bids I hired Sowinski Tile and Marble to repair the shower in our master bathroom. The workmen were all friendly and courteous, arrived on time, were organized, had all the necessary tools and equipment, went out of their way to minimize mess, cleaned up after themselves, and got the work done in a timely manner. Our project required tiles to be removed and using tiles left over from the original installation they were able to perform what my wife called a miracle by returning the shower to its original appearance following completion of the repairs. My wife who is an admitted â picky personâ was to use her words â blown away by the quality of the workmanship in the tile work.â I was blown away too -- by the quality of the plumbing repair. I will hire the Sowinski Tile and Marble Company for any future projects and would recommend them with confidence to even my best friend. Well done, Sowinski Tile and Marble, and thank you! You are clearly a company that values excellence and earned 5 stars out of 5 stars."

"The cost of service noted above includes fixtures, tile, vanities, etc.
These people are wonderful to work with.  They use their own employees, not sub-contractors.  Their estimate was the highest of all I got, but gut feeling told me to go with them and I don't regret it.  They were focused on what I wanted and worked to make it happen. Their rep went "shopping" with me to pick out fixtures, vanities and tile and offer suggestions. I didn't have a clue about what tile to get for the new enlarged shower, but after settling on a floor tile, they were able to pick out a complementary shower tile which I liked.
The master bath was a major rework.  After tearing down the interior wall I wanted removed, it was discovered that there a vent pipe in it.  This necessitated an additional charge to rework the plumbing.  As I am on a slab, the floor had to be dug up to reroute the vent pipe.  The inspector was not happy with their original plumbing rereoute, so a lot of the work had to be redone. They didn't ask for more money to do this.
A false wall behind the existing shower was removed and moved back maybe 6 inches and the front of the shower was extended a few inches.  A bench was installed.  The few inches on the side and front of the shower made quite a difference in the size of the shower.
When it came time to pick a top for the new vanities, once again, once again I didn't have a clue what to do.  I knew I wanted quartz and a not a dark color.  Trey brought two samples one of which I fell in love with.  Since it was a remnant, he got a reduced price on it.
This project started in June/July of 2015 and they are still trying to get the shower door straight.  The door is not standard size and had to be ordered.  The first two doors had defects. (I am using the second one now).  Third door, wrong color, 4th door not right either.  Because of all the problems, they are not charging me for the door.  They have ordered a fifth which hopefully will be OK.  I am sure others would have walked away once I had the second door which is usable but has a defect.
Trey decided a needed a ceiling fan for my my bedroom and said they would put it in if I bought one  I did and his brother Robert installed it, no charge. My total satisfaction was their foremost focus.

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Many homeowners have successfully retiled a bathroom themselves. It can be a challenging but rewarding process, but it’s best for someone who already has at least intermediate DIY skills.

To make a small bathroom look bigger, choose light-colored tiles in a medium- to large-format size. Lighter colors like white, cream, or light gray help open up a room, making it feel larger and more airy. While it may seem counterintuitive, small tiles can actually make a bathroom look smaller because the increased number of grout lines creates a busy pattern that visually shrinks the space. Instead, opt for medium- or large-format tiles for a more seamless, expansive appearance. For the best effect, pair your tiles with a matching or similarly colored grout to create a continuous surface that enhances the illusion of a larger area. Avoid dark colors, heavy patterns, and contrasting grout, as these can make the space feel more confined.

You should always use caulk instead of grout where the tile meets the wall. This will help your tile installation look great and last a long time. When you accidentally use grout for the corner seams, you end up making the tiles too rigid. So as the wall shifts over time, your tiles have no wiggle room. This can lead to tile damage, which will eventually require you to do at least a partial reinstallation.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.
