VA. Brick Doctor

Our front steps to our porch had seemed to settle, and there were cracks and gaps all over. Knowing we were going to have to rebuild them, we called VA Brick Dr first based on reviews. He even had us send him some pictures over text later in the day so he could start to give us an idea of what we were looking at. He came out the next day and examined our steps. He took a good long look at them and realized only one step had actually shifted, the rest of the steps and base were as they should be. He recommended only rebuilding the one step since everything else was measured correctly. Thrilled with that assessment, we had him do the work. I have no doubt other companies would have looked and just told us to rebuild the whole step structure, but he really took the time to make sure he gave us his honest opinion. About a month later he came and did the repair (weather kept delaying), and the end result came out better than we had hoped. He cleaned up the steps and joints all over, and looks good as new.

After a consultation with Kenny on the work I needed done, I hired VA Brick Doctor. Kenny repointed steps on the front and back porch, and repaired couple areas on porch where tiles were cracked and loose. Due to rainy weather I had to wait a few weeks before he could start but the wait was worth it. Kenny and his assistant arrived early and worked in hot, humid conditions. Kenny is easy to work with, meticulous, and knows his trade. I was very pleased with his work. It has been a year since the work was done and everything looks great.

Mr. Northan and his assistant did an excellent job.    Several days it rained when they were supposed to do the job.  Mr. Northam stayed in constant contact with me on the days where the weather prevented him from doing the work.   Mr. Northam did a first class job!

Conscientious about laying a good foundation and matching existing brick, to the extent that he sent a representative from the

brick vendor to ensure the match was close.  Resulted in him taking back a load of bricks and bringing another. Did good work and washed brick with acid.  Price was low enough that I added some to cover the acid wash. 

Weather and other jobs impacted his time schedule so I had to wait beyond estimated start date

Kenny responded promptly to my query for help.  He was very busy, but provided an estimate when he said he would.  He showed up for the work when he said he would.  The job took two days - Remove/grind out existing mortar (what was left) in day one and repoint the entire steps group the next.  Everything looks better than new.  Positively perfect.    



If I ever need masonry work again, I'll be giving Kenny a call.  I've seen his work and it's great.

We are totally happy with our experience with the Brick Doctor. Our 60 year old house had front and back steps that had lost quite a bit of mortar. The front porch, made of broken tile with a brick border , needed the entire border of mortar replaced, and some cracks repaired. Kenny is a true craftsman and a hard worker. He was easy to deal with and we worked together to schedule the repairs. He is a skilled professional, and it was obvious that he takes pride in his work and gives attention to detail. Throughout the process he consulted with us to mke sure we understood what he was going to do. All of the repairs were made, including replacing some broken bricks. The front and back areas were power washed and the results were amazing. Kenny was very careful to clean up before he left . I would definitely recommend the Brick Doctor.

Kenny was great to work with - he is punctual, responsive and followed through on all promised and did quality work!  His quote was lower than all others I received but the quality of the work is fantastic.  The steps and railing in front of my townhouse were loose and the landing a bit concave.  Kenny made sure that the landing is now flat, the bricks are reattached and the railing is sturdy and secure.  I would definitely recommend his services to other home owners!

The price Mr Northam charged for the job was very reasonable. We were very pleased with the final results. We will recommend him to our neighbors, friends and family. Most definitely will contract him again for any future jobs.

It went great.  He is honest and really is an expert on brick and brick matters.

Kenny at Brick Doctor did a great job.  He actually ended up doing more than what we agreed to and he still stuck to his good price.  Kenny spent a week on the job and was punctual everyday.  I am very satisfied with the work that he did and would hire him again.

Kenny provided written quote on initial visit. The work involved repointing and repairing brick ground drains across front of home. Some modification was also required to keep rainwater from spilling out over side at a point near the end of the drain. He told me he could start the work the following morning. None of the other 3 contractors I contacted could beat his price or provide such quick service. I called him that evening to give him the go-ahead. He wanted 1/2 half down, so we arranged payment via PayPal. He showed up the following morning at the appointed time and began work to remove old mortar and cracked bricks. It was one of the hottest days so far this summer, but he continued on until the work was ready for the new masonry. The following morning he showed up with a helper and completed the job, except for final cleaning, which was handled the next morning. Workmanship is superb. Can't wait for the next storm to see if all rain water from the roof stays confined within the drain system.
