Customers say: Quick response

"I called various contractors to install shower doors on a tub for my moter-in-laws shower. Others quoted job unseen; I wanted someone to see the job ahead of time so their are no suprises....i know how contractors like "growth work" . Bogart came out, priced the job and stuck to said price. He was on time, very professional, polite, neat and clean. I would recommend Bogart and would hire again."

"Very knowledgeable carpenter. The French doors I ordered for my shed were too wide and too tall for the opening. Mr. Phillips enlarged the opening by moving existing 2x4s and reattaching them. He mad sure the doors were hung level. He attached all hardware and installed the new lock set."

"Steve did a wonderful job on my cabinet door installation. He made sure that the job was done perfectly and even cleaned up after. I am very happy with how the doors turned out. It is great to know that he wanted to make sure the work was done right."

Doors questions, answered by experts

Your Williamsburg home may need door service if you notice drafts, sticking doors during humid weather, or visible gaps around frames. Doors older than 15 years or showing signs of rot are strong candidates for replacement. Historic homes often require period-appropriate upgrades, while properties near flood zones benefit from water-resistant entryway solutions. Homes close to tourist areas also gain curb appeal from authentic colonial-style doors.

Helpful?

For door service in Williamsburg, it’s wise to keep weatherstripping, exterior wood stain or paint in traditional colors, and silicone-based caulk for sealing. Have 3-in-1 oil for hinges, graphite lubricant for locks, and replacement door sweeps available. Dehumidifier packs help protect older frames, while a small touch-up kit ensures your entryway stays looking fresh and historically accurate throughout the year.

Helpful?

Williamsburg homeowners often select colonial-style doors with raised panels to match the area’s architectural heritage. Durable fiberglass doors with authentic wood-grain finishes are favored for their resilience in VA’s climate. Smart locks and energy-efficient glass inserts are popular in newer developments, while deep red, colonial blue, and black remain top color choices. Storm doors with retractable screens are also a common entryway upgrade for added comfort.

Helpful?

Completing door service in Williamsburg offers immediate advantages like enhanced curb appeal—especially valuable in historic neighborhoods—improved home security, and better insulation for energy savings during humid summers. Over time, you’ll benefit from increased property value, reduced drafts, and lower maintenance needs. For historic homes, proper door replacement or entryway upgrades can help maintain compliance with preservation standards and keep your property eligible for local tax incentives.

Helpful?

In Williamsburg, replacing an exterior door usually takes 4-6 hours, while interior door service is completed in 2-4 hours. Installing a storm door or making entryway upgrades averages 3-5 hours. If your home is in a historic district, permit approval can add 2-4 weeks, and custom colonial-style doors may require 4-6 weeks for delivery. Scheduling is fastest outside the busy April to October season.
