"I have used Worley for a variety of projects with excellent results, but I particularly want to shine a light on the most recent toilet installation. Many years ago, another plumbing company told us that there was a problem pipe in a walls that clogged when we used the two fixtures upstairs for #2. To fix them would have cost us as much as $15000 between the actual repair and putting in new drywall and wallpaper. So, we had a couple of guys come to check out the problem, and they thought the problem was that the two upstairs toilets didn't have enough pressure, and there were modern ones using the same amount of water per flush but had much stronger flushes. Combined, they cost less than $1500. So, they installed them last week and they are working wonderfully! So, Worley's probably save as $13,000 or more. That would be reason enough to hire these guys."

"I have had Lighthouse Mechanical do some work in the past and their fee seemed to be reasonable. They were helpful, polite and did good work. However, I am now questioning their fee and service. I called them on a Saturday because my system was not working. The tech was able to come out for a $99.00 diagnostic fee which I thought was reasonable for a weekend and with cold weather starting the next evening needed to get the system fixed. The tech was at my place for a minimum of 3 hours and could not locate the issue. The tech was very nice and tried hard. He even called another technician on the phone for assistance. He said he would need to come back the next day with another tech to figure out the issue. The next morning, Sunday, they both came and after more than an hour determined it was the defrost board on the heat pump. As parts places were closed they would need to come back on Monday to install a new board. They were able to do a bypass and get the heat pump to run in the meantime. The tech said the board would run $200 to $300 tops to install price. The office calls me Monday morning and it will be $408 plus the $99 diagnostic fee, Its extremely cold outside so can't really argue and price it out elsewhere. So that Monday after the call about the price another tech shows up with the board and completes the install successfully. Again nice tech even when he had to be outside working in the cold. I receive my invoice and later that day I take a moment to check the part number of the board against the internet to check pricing... $115 was the highest price I could fine. Called the person from the office to see why I was charged $408 plus the $99 diagnostic fee as this didn't add up. I understand mark-up but that's a big mark up on a $115 part and less than an hour’s labor to install it. The person that gave me the price was out and would call me back. No call back that day so I called again the next day and she answered. Her response to me is that they charge a flat fee not based on the part cost or actual installation fee but a national average. And also as they are a Trane dealer and I have a Carrier unit it is more expensive. Customers need to be aware of this. Won't be calling them again. Nice techs but 5 hours plus over two days to figure out the issue and their pricing scheme is not fair. I will check elsewhere next time."

"We are a military family and a few months ago, we were looking for a dependable and affordable heating and cooling company to put in an upgraded A/C and heating system in our home. A neighbor told us about Smiley's and how great they were so we gave them a call and had them replace our furnace and A/C unit. We are so glad we found them and all of our experiences with them have been 100% positive. The level of professionalism and job quality was more than we could have asked for and the customer service has been excellent as well. All businesses should be ran like Smiley's!
Recently, my husband was out of town and due to unforeseen circumstances, I needed Smiley's to come back to help me with some repairs. They went above and beyond to ensure we got exactly what was necessary and give us complete customer satisfaction. From the service desk to the crew of technicians who did the work, we cannot thank them enough.
We are Smiley's heating and cooling customers for life! And we recommend them to anyone needing service.

"Exceeded our expectations in quality of work, price and overall scope of the work completed. This was our very first air duct cleaning for this house. Dana and his crew were very well organized and meticulous about their work. Dana explained everything that needed to be done - it turned out that we had some unexpected issues discovered during the cleaning process. Repairs were suggested, options given with no pressure and we were given a very fair price. Dana and his team are professional and clearly know what they are doing. We recommend Airight with no reservations and will definitely call them again."

"I was relieved after switching from American Home Shield's companies to these folks. They went above and beyond other companies I'd found by installation new foundation for the unit, installing a drainage system, and doing a courtesy check on the unit."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

A home radiator works by using radiation and convection to transfer heat throughout your home. Electric radiators use metal to conduct heat and warm the air, which then rises to warm the room. Steam and hot water radiators work with a boiler and piping system to pump thermal energy throughout the home. Hot water radiators use a boiler to heat the water before circulating it to the radiator, while steam heating radiator systems convert the heated water to steam before circulating it out. When the water or steam cools, it travels back to the boiler to be heated again.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.

Probably not. Moving a boiler to a new location is a very different prospect from replacing it in the same spot, and significantly more expensive. Plus, boilers are typically carefully positioned in proximity to pipes and radiators when installed. Homeowners may want to move boilers to free up space, prevent freezing problems that have happened in winter, or solve a noise issue—but it’s a much more costly proposition.

If you go to turn it counterclockwise and it won’t turn anymore, it’s open. Like most other valves, you should be able to turn a radiator valve counterclockwise (to the left) to open it and clockwise (right) to close it. To close a radiator valve, turn it clockwise until you meet some resistance and can’t turn anymore, but do so carefully to avoid breaking the valve.

If you're often struggling with radiator issues like chilly spots, leaks, or annoying noises, those are common indications that your radiator may need to be replaced. Corrosion, uneven heating, and persistent hissing sounds are common issues as well. When repairs become a regular chore and your home’s energy bills start to rise, a new radiator will bring the comfort and savings you need.
