"Ms. [Member Name Removed]: I am truly sorry you had a less than positive experience with our company. I hope my response addresses your concerns and offers adequate explanations for our decisions and actions. First of all, I often arrive to jobs with my lead technician before the rest of my crew for various reasons. For example, sometimes they are cleaning up at a previous job and I leave to start the next job on schedule. Other times, I prefer to assess the condition of a customer's duct work before my crew arrives so they are not standing idle until I can appropriately direct them. Secondly, portions of your ducting were completely rusted through to the insulation due to moisture from animal feces. Unfortunately, damaged duct work is not cleanable until the damage has been addressed first. Although we do some repair work (patching holes, reconnecting lines, etc.), I communicated that the extent of repairs needed was beyond what we typically do, and therefore we could not clean your ducts and you would not be charged. Additionally, we do not do "partial" cleaning jobs, and nothing short of thorough duct cleaning meets our quality standards. I believe someone would be hard-pressed to find a reputable dentist who would do a partial teeth cleaning. It is much the same in our industry. Also, I often ask customers to take a look at damage so they can see it firsthand and have all the information they need to make informed decisions regarding their homes. Lastly, I apologize for any miscommunication regarding the mold. Mold is a common and unfortunate consequence of moisture-ridden or neglected duct work. However, there is no way to determine whether or not mold exists in a customer's air ducts until we conduct a visual examination. There is an additional charge for mold remediation, and the process requires residents to leave their homes for a period of time."
