"Very impressed with this group. The estimator was knowledgeable and gave a very fair price, half as much as another estimate. The carpenter was skilled, neat, and communicated well, cared about our satisfaction. The scheduler is friendly and very good at reminders when they are coming. They replaced several sections of paneling in the basement and reattached the old trim which was tricky, matched and provided the panels, They even returned to fix something my husband had installed wrong. Highest recommendation of any outfit I've worked with."

"Two level deck needed minor surface rot repair, power washing, and staining. Flores Enterprises LLC quoted and completed the work in the same business week. Attention to detail on staining is excellent. Provided photos of repairs and completed work and kept me informed on any issues which arose. Would definitely hire again."

"Ferney renovated my whole house. The work included internal wall removal; complete bathrooms' renovation including tiling and fixtures; full kitchen renovation including cabinet planning and installation, island installation, and tiling; pocket door installation; hardwood floors installation; wiring and electric work including recessed lights; carpentry and painting. His last work was building a new wooden deck on the existing foundation. The work was done on the highest level both in terms of the skills and mastery, communication, and the level of trust. Ferney truly took care of my house as though it was his own - no shortcuts or sloppiness, including putting everything in orderly organized way at the end of each day. He has a lot of experience and he suggested many useful features. Personally he is an exceptionally honest and sincere person, and he is a pleasure to work with. He is the first person on my list for the work that is needed in the house."

"HR Renovations replaced the decking in our backyard and the porch floor on the front of the house. They were responsive, friendly, fair and professional. Their carpenters were the best - careful, precise, friendly and always totally cleaned up at the end of the day. I would highly recommend this company."

Customers say: Quality work

"Guy is a 40 year professional carpenter. I have been doing many of my own projects for the last two decades and I am no where near the skill level of Guy. He is a crown molding expert. Meticulous and nice. Best hire I’ve had on Home Advisor. Go with him and you will be happy."

"I have used Mark many times over the past 15 years, but usually for smaller projects. This was a full kitchen remodel where we first contacted him in November 2021 with the intention of starting the actual demo/remodel in Spring 2022. He provided us with some insights on what to plan for, as well as some designers to consider. While we used a designer for the initial, rough design, we knew we were going to ask Mark for a custom built triangular corner cabinet. The demo work started late Spring 2022. Cristian, Mark's foreman for the project, was excellent the entire way. He always made it clear what the next step was going to be, and why. We had the floor raised and leveled and Cristian ended up suggesting a wall versus just poles and new footers, because of the way our floor joists were constructed. This also allowed them to add shelves in the basement for us, which was an unexpected bonus. They then demoed the entire kitchen, including the old-plaster ceiling and reframed everything to be square and level. Then Christian laid out the entire cabinet design since we contracted Mark to custom build all the cabinets for the kitchen instead of just the one corner unit. It was a good thing we did, because when he did that he noticed several design errors from the designer that would have been problematic if we had bought pre-built cabinets. However, Cristian was able to simply adapt the design on the fly and keep the kitchen looking great (Mark took lots of pictures during the process, so should be available on his website). The project took close to 8 weeks from start of demolition to completion and we were extremely pleased with them the entire way. Cristian and his crew were always extremely attentive to details and always willing to work with us if we had questions or design thoughts (including discussing any merits or negatives of our thoughts, in case we were overthinking things!). We wouldn't hesitate to use Mark again and plan on having them back soon to do at least one bathroom remodel, as Marks' crews can handle electrical, plumbing, siding, etc. with no problems."

"Great. Mike and I talked briefly through Angie's List messaging system, I described what I needed, he quoted an hourly rate along with estimate of time needed, we set up a time and were good to go. Showed up on time, I explained what I needed done showing him each item and he got to work. Kitchen faucet: I thought it was just a bad washer or o-ring, but it turned out to be a plastic part (that interacted with a metal part) that had worn out deep inside the faucet, which he found by disassembling the faucet. Showed me where it was and what it did, and unfortunately there was no replacement part available. Also explained that he had seen black/rusty water when he was taking things apart and the valve/lines under the sink needed replacing too. (This explained some odd tastes we were getting from the sink water.) He asked me what type of faucet and quality level I wanted (cheapest, most expensive, middle), went out and bought it plus the other needed parts, returned and installed it all. Works great and the water doesn't taste odd anymore. What I thought was a simple job turned out to be more complex and longer. Bathroom sink faucets: Fairly straight forward replacement, though he did have to shorten the connecting rod connecting the drain plug to the post you pull to close the drain. There isn't much space under the cabinets! Also pointed out a small leak in the pipes underneath, which he fixed as well. And he cleaned out all the build up in one of the drains so it drains promptly now. Toilet: Replaced the clogged valve in a jiffy along with the feed line and the tank hardware, and now, instead of taking 20 minutes to refill, it refills in a short time, stops when it's suppose to stop, and doesn't leak. Bathroom: Removed the towel rack, moved and leveled the shelf. And, he tightened the nut holding the toilet seat cover onto the toilet without even being asked, just because he noticed it. (We had lived with it after my attempts to tighten it hadn't worked.) Kitchen cabinet: Removed the drawer and pointed out that the wheel rails can spread at the back, from use. Closed the spread and now the drawer slides in and out perfectly. (I felt dumb for not having figured that out, but now I know.) Cleanliness: He had canvas drop cloths to catch any dirt or grime he generated as well as for protecting the floor. Had a trash bag for any trash generated (such as the faucet boxes) and used it as he went, rather than gathering the trash at the end. Honesty: Even though he ended up doing several extra things (valves and lines under kitchen sink, fixed a leak under bathroom sinks, toilet seat cover nut), I did not get the vibe that he was finding these just to do them and earn more money. The kitchen faucet issue agreed with what we had already observed, and the leak in the bathroom sink cabinet was real and (obviously!) needed fixing. And the seat cover nut, well, that was just a nice touch. All in all, I am very pleased with the results. Very pleased with his attitude and willingness to dig in to get the job done and working until it was. He explained the extra work needed as he found it, and didn't bother me unduly (I had my own work to do, as well, working remotely that day). And when I stepped over to see how it was going, he gave a precise update. He had all the tools needed (most of which I don't have, such as plumber's putty), and he had several spare parts in his truck so he wasn't constantly driving over to Home Depot. In short, he came prepared. Turned out to be 8 hours of work instead of the original estimate of 5 or less. Charged by the hour, and for the faucet and valve and bit of pipe installed (about $200 in parts). I like that flexibility, rather than charging a flat rate for a block of time (4 hours or 8 hours is what I've seen elsewhere on Angie's List site). The rate was competitive and I tipped him as well. The amount indicated in this review is for parts and labor only."

"We're glad to have hired OSSA Home Repair to turn an ordinary exercise room into a SPA room with laundry and vanity sink. Our vision starts with John Simon who engineered the design of the wall tiles with a half-wall to conceal the new plumbings. Johnny Ossa and his team of plumbers and electricians worked diligently to ensure we were on schedule despite losing days of work due to weather inclement. The end result looks astonishing. The half wall turns out much better than our expectations. We now have a very Zen place in our home where we can relax. Thank you OSSA! We will definitely hire them again for other projects."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The best way to calculate framing costs is by basing your costs on the square footage of your home. On average, framing your home could cost anywhere between $7 and $16 per square foot.

To ensure you don’t go over budget, base your estimates on the higher end of the price range. If you know you’re going to use high-end materials or require a custom or complex build, you might even want to tack on an additional 5% of your budget.

Yes, walls on the top floor can be load-bearing if stacked on the floor’s foundation.

Yes, professionals can install new frames, trim, and threshold adjustments for a complete finish.

Professionals charge between $60 and $95 per hour to install ornamental porch columns. The amount of time they need varies based on the condition of the porch, whether they need to remove old columns, and if there is any damage to your porch's structure. This cost can increase if more issues come up during the installation process.

The cost to frame a 2,000-square-foot house can fall anywhere between $14,000 and $32,000. This price can increase or decrease depending on what type of framing you choose, the quality of the materials, the project's complexity, and whether you decide to hire a professional to do the job.
