"After finding out that our wood stove couldnâ t be installed due to an issue with the width of our existing chimney & the proposed liner, Honeycutt Chimney Sweep was recommended to us. Not only did Dustin fit us in quickly, but he also patiently explained our options, helped us pick the best choice for our current situation, and came back less than a week later to complete the proposed work. Everyone we interacted with was kind, courteous, and did the job quickly & correctly. I would recommend them to friends & family without hesitation!"

"I am very comfortable recommending First Chimney Sweep. They were on time, polite, friendly, and efficient. They did a great job at a reasonable price. At my request, they were able to price some other work I was considering. First Chimney Sweep is now at the top of my list for fireplace or chimney services."

"Jeff Davis, the Chimney inspector, was prompt, efficient and provided his report in both hardcopy and in e-mail, as I requested. I needed an e-mail version to send to my condo management company. He also explained clearly why cleaning of the Chimney was not needed. I certainly plan to contact him again when another inspection is needed."

"I've used American Professional several times at various houses I've lived in or owned. They are an honest and professional company that does good work and stands behind it. I recently got them to give me an estimate on rebuilding the top portion of a chimney that needs brickwork. They inspected the chimney, told me it was safe to use, and gave me a very reasonable estimate for the chimney rebuild, saying that it can wait until spring if I wish. From my experience, they will do everything they can to satisfy the customer, whether it's a simple chimney cleaning or custom work. This is the best chimney company in the DC area by far."

"The team from American Chimney(Lewis, Derrick and Gabriel) were the consummate professionals and went over and beyond the call of duty to ensure my dryer vent was serviced properly. The work and customer service was stellar and second to none! American Chimney Sweeps is now my go-to company for all related services and the best dryer vent service I have ever encountered after several years of sub-par services from other companies. Do yourself a favor and add them to your list of qualified and competent companies, you will not be disappointed."

"We initially booked a chimney sweep, because smoke was getting into the house. When the cleaner showed up, he inspected the chimney and found that a cleaning was not necessary and didn't charge for it, and instead walked us through steps to talk to better operate the chimney. Since then, smoke has not been an issue."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

If untreated, smoke damage is definitely toxic. Carbon and tar are two types of toxic chemicals in smoke that can damage your lungs and other parts of your body if you breathe them in for long periods of time. If you still smell smoke after the fire, it’s important that you call your restoration team for support.

Yes, a seller is legally required to disclose any known fire damage when selling a house, including damages that were repaired. That includes damages to structural components and all major systems, as well as water damage, chemical damage, and smoke damage related to the fire. Sellers use a property disclosure statement, which is regulated by each state individually, to disclose fire damage.

As with any smoking appliance, a smoking oven is a concerning fire risk. It also negatively impacts your indoor air quality, which can put vulnerable people at risk of breathing problems. A dirty oven can catch fire if you don’t stay on top of regular maintenance, so remember to check your oven for signs that it’s time for a cleaning and remove buildup every three months to stay on the safe side.

Yes, many providers offer 24/7 emergency repair services to prevent inventory loss.

Yes, a bowl of vinegar can absorb smoke. If you want to use this method to reduce the smoke smell in your house, all you have to do is leave a bowl (or multiple bowls) of white vinegar out overnight. Alternatively, you can use bowls of baking soda, coffee grounds, or activated charcoal.
