Customers say: Quick response

"Excellent! We have used A&A for approximately 15 years. The plumbers at A&A are top notch. Recently, we had all shower heads, in wall controllers, and hardware replaced for 2 bathrooms. David Williams was our plumber. He did a great job and we love our updated bathroom showers thanks to David. Once again another quality job by A&A plumbing! In addition to working with David, we also worked with Kerry to coordinate our job and make any necessary arrangements. Kerry is very personable and responsive...simply put, Kerry is awesome! One of the bathrooms required access to the plumbing by cutting a hole in sheetrock in the wall behind the bathroom and the other bathroom needed tile cut out for access. The work to replace/repair the sheetrock and tile was performed by Warren at Bexar Home Repair and when he came to provide us a quote as well as when he performed the repair work, he commented on how impressed he was with the careful and precise removal of the tile by the plumber to allow for ease of replacement."

Small jobs welcome

"I had my water heater replaced by Greenwood Plumbing, and I couldn't be more pleased with the service. From the moment I called to schedule the appointment, Chris was friendly and efficient. Chris arrived on time, thoroughly explained the installation process, and completed the job with expertise and care. My new water heater works great?I've noticed more consistent hot water, and the installation was seamless. They even cleaned up afterward, which I really appreciated. Overall, the experience was top-notch, and I highly recommend Greenwood Plumbing for anyone in need of a water heater replacement. They made the whole process easy and stress-free!"

"He was able to to troubleshoot my problem over the phone. I was told my my another plumber that I needed a auger for my drain on the roof amd he didn’t do that. Dustin called and I explained the problem to him and he walked me through some step to try and the result was I didn’t need anyone on my roof and I really didn’t have a drainage problem after all. He could have came out and charged me but he didn’t. I really appreciated his honesty. I highly recommend Dustin and when I do need a plumber , I will definitely call him."

"Excellent work no doubt. Definitely recommend to anyone in my community/subdivision. Very professional and reasonable for as price range. This company isn't trying to rob your pockets especially in today's market. I recommend all that reads my comment too use this company EMERGENCY PLUMBER LLC. I needed my toilet fixed the correct way not just put together for a payout. 10 ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ in my book."

"I have dealt with a lot of plumbers and by far this is the best plumbing company around. I will use them in the future. Joe came out and he was very thorough, did everything he could to resolve the plumbing problem and went above and beyond what other plumbers do! They were reasonable, on time and it was a pleasure dealing with them."

"City Base Plumbing arrived earlier than set appointment. They gave me a courtesy call and asked if I would be home for an earlier appt. time and I said yes. When the worker arrived, I was happy to see a familiar face, Hector. He worked on some plumbing for me earlier this year. He's friendly, professional, knowledgeable and very experienced. He identified where the leak was coming from and repaired it. He checked for any leaks afterwards. No leaks. He made me a very happy customer. Thank you."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Hiring a reliable and professional plumber involves researching plumbing companies in your area, speaking with the plumbers to get a sense of their services and qualifications, and checking online for licensing and customer reviews. You can ask the following questions to help find the best and most reputable plumber in your area:

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • Are you licensed, certified, and insured?

  • Does your work come with any type of warranty?

  • Do you have customer references I could speak with?

  • Do you have experience handling my particular issue?

Yes, ammonia does damage pipes if used or disposed of improperly. Although ammonia-based cleaners are commonly used to unclog drain pipes, they either come already diluted or instruct the user to dilute them before use. Otherwise, undiluted ammonia is too caustic and could corrode certain plumbing types, such as PVC.

Plumbers will typically take one to two hours to install a new drain pipe, but that timeline can vary based on the area’s accessibility, the drain length, and the type of drain line. Replacing an easily accessible p-trap under a sink could take as little as a half an hour, while replacing a larger section of drain line behind the wall could take as long as three to four hours. When hiring a plumber for your specific installation, ask them to provide an estimated timeline to get a more accurate assessment.

Pipes in your house can freeze after six hours or so if you lose power and temperatures are below freezing. You can prepare for potential power outages by winterizing your pipes with insulation. Also, whenever temperatures drop below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, turn your faucets on very low and leave them dripping until temperatures rise.

The most likely reason is rust. You can try using lubricant to loosen the metal components, but you’ll most likely need to call in a plumber to professionally sand down the rust without damaging the rest of your bathtub. If the rust is extensive, it might be a sign that you need to replace the plumbing.
