"Dan and Austin did a great job replacing our dead water heater. We were really impressed with these gentlemen. George Plumbing Company gave a reasonable estimate, but it took significantly longer (6 hours versus 2 hours) than anticipated because the previous water heater installation had been botched. Dan is obviously very observant and detail-oriented. He may be a perfectionist. My wife thinks that they left the laundry room cleaner than when they began the job. They were punctual, polite, pleasant and worked quietly. We can't say enough good things about George Plumbing, a GREAT company!"

"All went as planned and my tenants are happy with the new water heater.  I have used Parker and Sons several times this year. While I sometimes think the price is a little on the high side, it is worth paying for a service I can trust.  They are very responsive and can provide almost any plumbing services, including main sewer line.

Small jobs welcome

"I had my water heater replaced by Greenwood Plumbing, and I couldn't be more pleased with the service. From the moment I called to schedule the appointment, Chris was friendly and efficient. Chris arrived on time, thoroughly explained the installation process, and completed the job with expertise and care. My new water heater works great?I've noticed more consistent hot water, and the installation was seamless. They even cleaned up afterward, which I really appreciated. Overall, the experience was top-notch, and I highly recommend Greenwood Plumbing for anyone in need of a water heater replacement. They made the whole process easy and stress-free!"

"The technician, Ryan, was excellent! Very knowledgeable about water softeners and identified the problem right away. He not only made the repair but showed me what was wrong and rest the softener to the correct flow ratio. and salt usage. Hot water heater flush was done quickly and â no messâ ! Ryan was also prompt, professional and personable."

"When my water heater went out, it was replaced with a tankless water heater. Anthony installed it and performs yearly maintenance on it along with my second water heater tank. Anthony is my "go to guy" for all things plumbing. He is fast and efficient. He is a master plumber and it shows. I have had at least 4 projects around the house that required a skilled plumber. He is on my speed dial. I highly recommend his services."

"I was expecting to have to wait a day or so before I could get my water heater installed. Instead, I had a new one delivered and installed within a couple of hours and the price was better than what others were quoting. Excellent service!"

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

There are pros and cons to tankless water heaters. They are more efficient than traditional tank water heaters, and maintenance costs are lower. These units are also much more compact. On the other hand, they cost about twice as much to install as traditional tank water heaters and are more limited in terms of flow rate.

If you're replacing a broken water heater, now is a great time to make sure you're selecting a unit that has the right capacity for your household. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, a small 50-gallon to 60-gallon tank is sufficient for households with one to three people. A medium-sized 80-gallon tank is considered ideal for three to four people. A larger tank may be needed if your household has four to six people.

No. Expansion tanks must be installed on the supply side (where heated water flows out) of the boiler. There’s also a list of other requirements for most boilers, including being above the pressure relief valves, being on the inner side of any circulator, and more. Your installation manual should have more information on expansion tank installation requirements and what sort of tank the system is made for.

Unless you have previous plumbing experience or extensive experience with water heaters, you should avoid replacing your electric water heater yourself. This process involves disconnecting wiring and parts from the old water heater and reinstalling them onto the new one, among other difficult tasks. This job is best left to the pros to make sure that everything is connected correctly to avoid serious leaks or malfunctions.

Depending on the brand of water heater, you may need to install an expansion tank in order to meet the conditions for warranty coverage. It’s important for consumers to read the fine print of the warranty to see if an expansion tank is necessary. Even if an expansion tank isn’t required for the warranty, it’s usually mandated by building codes—although not for tankless water heaters.
