"Eric was great, professional and knowledgeable- there was no sales pitch, the quote was within the range of what I anticipated. He got all the work done in a timely manner and cleaned up afterward. I had called Nickâ s after I had a pipe burst during the Feb. TX winter storm, I am glad that I waited it out until Nickâ s could perform the needed repair."

"Excellent, timely and affordable service. Our water heater went out without warming but Joel can out and replaced it ASAP. He was much more affordable than the big name companies. Couldn’t be happier with the service and install. We had a clogged drain a few days later, called him up and of course he came out and worked diligently until it was resolved. I have already referred someone to Long’s and will continue to. I highly recommend them!"

"My project wasn't a drain line breakage but it was to winterize my sprinkler system before the possibility of a freeze this weekend. I tried to do it myself last year and never again will I attempt it. I received a very quick call, from a very professional and polite gentleman, and literally within 4 hours, the task was completed. And, I didn't get a ridiculous price to do it like I was expecting and I greatly appreciate that. I will probably call them from now on for any/all needs I have in the future. I highly recommend."

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

If you’re replacing an interior door, it’s best to get the work done in the summer or winter, as door installation professionals are the least busy during these seasons and might charge lower labor costs based on the decreased demand. You can also potentially save money by hiring a professional to install your exterior door during these seasons, but most homeowners wait until the spring or fall so that the extreme temperatures don’t put added strain on their HVAC systems while the door is being added or replaced.

Storm doors last about 25 years, although high-quality and well-maintained storm doors could last up to 50 years. The type of storm door can impact lifespan, so be sure to consider the durability of different frame materials and glass types before making a purchase. Also, keep in mind that while storm doors can typically mitigate the impact of strong winds and harsh weather, repeated exposure to storms can wear down the door and shorten its lifespan.

Most homeowners can expect to pay between $186 and $680, with the cost of installing storm doors averaging $432, including both materials and installation. Labor costs range from $75 to $400, depending on the complexity of the job; however, paying for a professional helps save you time and ensures proper installation. If you go the DIY route, you could spend anywhere from $250 to $1,000 for just the labor kit, which includes the door and hardware. You’ll also need to budget for tools, like a power drill and level, if you don’t already have them.

To maintain a storm door's functionality and appearance, you should regularly clean the glass and frames, lubricate the hinges and other moving parts, and inspect the seals for any signs of wear.

A storm door should be the same size as the front door. Both doors will fit into the same opening on the exterior of the home, so you can expect the storm door to be the same size as the front door. Most doors will be about 32 or 36 inches wide and 75 or 81 inches tall, although you can customize your door sizes.
