"I hired Alex to help me with the ugly, neglected yard of the home I just bought. Best decision ever! He and his crew were the nicest, most hardworking people you'd ever want to meet - and they literally transformed my ugly yard. I am new to TX, and not familiar with what grows well here. I gave him a very rough idea of the look I wanted and Alex did an amazing job landscaping a large area around the front of the house and backyard. I told him I was really hoping for mature plants so I wouldn't have to wait years for everything to fill in. Boy, did he deliver! The pants are big, healthy and beautiful and fill the space wonderfully. People walking by, who I don't even know, tell me how beautiful it looks. Alex also fixed some issues with my sprinkler system and left my yard in pristine condition. He was very reasonable compared to two other estimates I got and a PLEASURE to work with! Based on my experience, I highly recommend Alex and his company, Guerrero Landscape!"

Snow Removal questions, answered by experts

While removing every snowflake from your roof is unnecessary, you should remove a significant buildup of snow. Since snow is wet and heavy, it can easily cause damage to your roof, which can lead to needing costly repairs.

Additionally, when the snow melts but has nowhere to go and refreezes, it can create an ice dam, causing mold concerns due to water leaking into your attic and ceiling. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a snow removal professional to clear heavy snowfall from your roof as soon as possible.

In most cases, it’s worth it to pay for professional snow removal. You can shovel the snow yourself, but it’s very labor-intensive and puts you at risk of injury or illness by performing exhausting manual labor in slippery conditions. Paying a professional removes that risk and saves you time and energy. Depending on your agreement, you could wake up to a cleared driveway and a car that’s ready to drive rather than have to get up early to do the work yourself.

When starting the engine, you typically leave the choke on a snowblower in the "choke" or "closed" position. After starting, let the engine run for a few minutes to warm up. Then, gradually open the choke, moving it to the "open" or "run" position, allowing more air into the engine and transitioning to a normal fuel-air mixture. The exact duration varies based on the snowblower model and ambient temperature, but as a general rule, you should open the choke once the engine has stabilized and runs smoothly, typically within a few minutes.

The fastest and most effective way to remove snow from a driveway is by using a powerful snow blower, such as a two- or three-stage model, which can clear the area in minutes. Other helpful options include a snow thrower, a wheelbarrow plow, and even a leaf blower for lighter snow. If you need immediate help, consider hiring a professional snow removal company to take care of it for you.

You can use hot water to melt ice from your driveway, but there are some serious caveats. Very hot water can quickly melt ice and remove it, which is helpful if you’re very short on time and need a solution ASAP. However, it will only work across a small area, after which there’s a chance the water will freeze again. The sudden clash of temperatures is dangerous for fragile materials, notably windows and other glass, so you’ll want to keep the water away from your car.
