"I paid less than half of a bid I got from a company with lots of people and lots of overhead. And I am confident that my project was of comparable quality. Removed tub and put in a high-quality walk-in shower- ½” cultured marble wall panels, custom-made shelf, solid cultured marble drain pan with texture to prevent slipping, grab bars, high-quality double-sliding glass doors. I wish the project had taken three days instead of four but that is my only complaint. Jay and his assistant did a good job. He had some good money-saving suggestions and was easy to work with. He matched the swirls on the wall panels (including the indented shelf!) and made the shower walls flow together. Great job!"

Customers say: True professional

"We were so impressed with Borrett construction and finishing company they replaced my kitchen cabinets they sanded the skeleton of the cabinets and then put up new doors new hinges and painted the inside of the cabinets and also the interior of the shelves. They did a beautiful job I couldn’t be happier they were neat and they cleaned up they taped off the whole room so nothing blew in any other part of my home. The painting job was amazing. They came when they said they would come they were very pleasant to work with I have never had nicer or more professional people working in my home. My name is Judi and I live in McKinney Texas"

"This was the first time I had done major renovations. When I started talking to contractors to get quotes I found that they were telling me what I wanted instead of trying to give me what I thought I wanted. Gary was so different. He listened to me and wanted to understand what I envisioned. He gave suggestions on how to go about it and when he didn't think something was the best option, he always had a solution. He was very responsive and patient with all my questions. Enrique and his team were wonderful. They did an incredible job and were so kind and respectful of my space. Through the renovations, I was working from home and they made it much easier than I expected. I could not be happier with the results. My master shower is amazing! The garden tub was removed and the new shower encompasses the space of the old shower and the garden tub. It is long enough that it didn't require a shower door. It is everything I wanted. In the kitchen, the new countertops, cabinets and backlash are spectacular. The guest bath had an odd angle that actually looked like it may have initially been measured wrong! Gary was diligent in finding a great vanity solution that looks like it was made for the space. I would highly recommend Gary and I know if there is additional work I need in my home, Gary will be my first call!"

"Kitchen Pros had previously remodeled our kitchen and once again did outstanding work for us. Our hall bathroom received a tub to shower conversion, new cabinet doors, new toilet, a new countertop and sinks, and new baseboard and trim. Our master bath received a new countertop and sink, new toilet, new cabinet doors, and new baseboard and trim."

"Tom is amazing. He was easy to book and showed up on time. His prices were incredibly reasonable. He installed 62 cabinet pulls and made sure every one was perfectly lined up. He also fixed a couple of our cabinet drawers that were starting to sag. He knew what the task was and came prepared with longer screws because he knew that the screws the pills came with probably wouldn’t fit. He was right. I am beyond impressed with his professionalism. Thank you so much! We will definitely be recommending you to our friends and family."

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

It is generally more cost-effective to purchase stock or semi-custom cabinets than to have them custom-built. The best option depends on your budget and customization needs.

Here is a breakdown of the average costs per linear foot:

  • Custom Cabinets: $500 to $1,200. The final price is influenced by factors like materials, size, and design complexity. For example, a basic slab cabinet door might cost $60 to $70 for materials, while a more intricate mullioned glass inset panel door can range from $100 to $200 per door.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets: $150 to $700.

  • Stock Cabinets: $100 to $400. These are pre-built and the most affordable option, but they offer limited customization and may not be suitable for rooms with unusual shapes or high ceilings.

There are three primary ways to attach upper kitchen cabinets to a wall, and installers may use more than one method at a time. The most common method is to drive screws through the back of the cabinets and into studs in the wall behind. Sometimes cabinets are glued to the wall with strong adhesive. Often a combination of screws and adhesive is desirable. The last way is by hanging the cabinets on hardware brackets that attach to the wall before cabinet installation.

As a homeowner, there are a few things you can do to prepare for your cabinet installer. Once the cabinets are ready for your home, you can do the following:

  • Ensure pets are safely in another room, out of the way of open doors and large moving objects.

  • Clear countertops for removal.

  • Tidy the floor the installers will walk through and around.

  • Prepare to have the installers in your home for the entire day, for multiple days, until the project is done. Expect to have a noisy environment, especially if they will remove old, existing cabinets.

Some municipalities require permits for wall-mounted furniture installations, particularly when structural modifications are necessary. Always make sure to check local building codes before starting your Murphy bed installation project. Your Murphy bed installer will be familiar with local codes and handle the permitting process, ensuring your project complies with all relevant regulations.

You can stack upper kitchen cabinets, but they may not fit neatly. Because upper kitchen cabinets are typically available in these standard sizes—12, 15, 18, 24, 30, 36, and 42 inches—you can stack various-sized upper cabinets. But, depending on your ceiling height, these standard sizes may not work together. That’s why smaller stacked cabinets are a much more stylish and economical choice.
